Why competition is needed!

Never before have I seen such a dull display of wrestling. Now I do not want my views to be construed or taken out of context. I believe that the WWE is becoming a monopoly in this great industry.

On the recent episode of Monday Night Raw I sat down and waited to watch the ongoing feud’s between Brock Lesnar vs The Undertaker and The Wyatt’s vs Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. I watch the whole 3 hour extravaganza as the WWE portray, however, I walked away feeling disappointed.

Not once did I see Brock or Undertaker besides the cuts to the previous week. There was no development in the storylines between the two of the above-mentioned matches, which left me feeling disappointed. Now I know that some of these wrestlers are part-timers and it is hard for us old attitude era fans to let go and embrace the new guys. Conversely I was left thinking why did they not advance these storylines, Dean Ambrose faced of against the Big Show in a great match, any match that Dean is involved in is a good match as he brings the intensity to the match and leaves the crowd satisfied. Although this did not enhance the ongoing storyline in any way. Why not have the Wyatt’s take out Ambrose whilst he was on his own?

Yes I will admit there was some trash talking and beefing up the storylines through the use of the microphone and calling people out, however there was no action. I would like to know how much time WWE these days spend on cutting promos and how much time there is in matches. These promos left me wanting more and this is the idea and design of cutting promos, so WWE are hitting their mark there, but it is not enough for the all out wrestling fan.

Back in the early 2000s, don’t get me wrong the superstars were something else, they had their own individual character that they could implement to help Vince achieve his dream of becoming the only wrestling maestro around the world. Is this a good thing though? Let me divulge into this and explain my thoughts.

When the wars were on the wrestlers were more enhanced and skilled and able to show different styles, however creative teams had more drive, as they needed to beat the other guy to achieve the ratings. Everybody remembers the infamous night where Mick Foley won the title, and WCW announced this live on air. There was a real sense of hatred there and this flowed into the ring, which gave the viewers the best product.

This does not occur today, and we are left with a sub par product, where we are forced to view whatever they want us to. There is more trash talking than action, there is no superstars besides Dean Ambrose who want to put there body on the line like good old Stone Cold Steve Austin. There are no advancement in the storylines and one week Dean Ambrose will be bringing the fight to The Wyatt’s and the next the Big Show, which adds nothing to the storyline.

We are now less than a month away from Summerslam and there has been no build up or advancement into the storylines, which are not different from Battleground.

I believe there needs to be some competition and in the mean time creative for WWE needs to make the product better and smarter. The WWE will never be the same as the attitude era that was a amazing era for the wrestling fan but we can come close to producing a good product rather than the product that is going out today. Firstly, start with the PG rating.

When TNA was at it’s strongest I believed that it provided a better product than WWE however was in a smaller field. It is now due to TNA’s somewhat demise that WWE is able to feed the viewer what ever they like.

We are in an age where there is a need of creative and some competition. Please leave your thoughts.
