Why Don’t Fans Quit Watching WWE If They Hate It So Much?

WWE is going through bad times at the moment given the absentees and creatives plans being in a bit of a mess due to storyline plans being changed and with Seth Rollins having to give up his World Heavyweight Championship. After a semi-par RAW this week WWE has come in for some harsh criticism, some of it justified most of it not.

I have been a wrestling fan for as long as i could remember and i know that every now and again the WWE goes through these unsettling times, the ratings decline, wrestlers absent due to injury the product becomes stale and the fans, wrestlers and former disgruntled WWE employees jump on the bandwagon of hate. It only happens if and when they usually see a bad episode of RAW. It’s actually becoming a habit to hate after they see this. The WWE crowds reacts totally opposite at times to the internet fans. If you don’t like the product then it’s simple really, don’t watch it. It’s really not that difficult as WWE is not the only wrestling product out there, there’s always the independent scene to look into.

Too many people are critical towards WWE in this day and age and they do this by venting their fury online. The problem i have with this is they only point out the negatives after they watch an episode of WWE RAW rather than point out any of the positives. The positives far outnumber the negatives and they seem to just complain about the negative parts they don’t like rather than praise the positive parts they do like. Road Dogg Jesse James was even quoted this week as saying “It’s rare that we hear ANY good feedback on social media so thank you!”

My question is, Why do online fans hate on the product so much nowadays? Is it because the wrestler you like loses a match and things did not go the way you see fit? Or because you miss the days of the famous Attitude Era? Or is it because people just like to complain online? Either way, jumping onto the bandwagon of hate is not the solution to this problem, it’s having patience. I mean, how can wrestling fans hate wrestling? Many people throughout the IWC are perpetually aggravated customers that worry too much about ratings and feel the need to hate the top superstars, they may never be happy with the product whether it’s good or bad. It all comes down to this, Vince McMahon does not care what the IWC thinks, and he will even go out of his way to piss off those who are most vocal about the product. He seems to really enjoy making the IWC feel pissed off, he probably gets a kick out of it and in some ways I can’t blame him.

As you see, a hell of a lot of main event superstars are missing at the moment due to injury and are not likely to return soon. This gives the other wrestlers a chance to shine and break down the barriers and who knows? maybe we’ll get to see some new faces making their debuts in the not too distant future. I’m not saying there’s nothing wrong with criticism. Hell, even i criticize them at times, but always point out the positives. It can be healthy and, at times, even help push the WWE in new directions.
