Should The Rock Return To WWE TV Programming Sooner Than Expected?

The ratings for both RAW and SmackDown, which have been on the decline in recent weeks, has Vince McMahon in a panic mode. With the “Face of the WWE” John Cena expected to take some time off for what has been described as “personal reasons,” many will wonder if it opens up opportunities for younger talent such as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro to showcase what they can do.

However knowing McMahon and Executive Producer Kevin Dunn, they as a rule, don’t trust the younger guys as both McMahon and Dunn are afraid to take risks. Instead, look for older veterans such as the Big Show, Randy Orton, Sheamus and Kane to get shoved down our throats as these four men have huge support from Dunn and McMahon.

But, there is one guy that you can expect to make a return to WWE TV sooner rather than later. Yes, I’m taking about Dwayne Douglas Johnson, A.K.A. The Rock. You might think that The Rock returning to WWE TV may make the IWC complain, but his impending return could very well be what the doctor has ordered.

The Rock is more than just one of the biggest drawing Superstars in WWE history. He is a movie star, someone who could help boost ratings and attendance for the casual fan which both McMahon and Dunn want. When people find out beforehand that The Rock will be in, say this Monday’s RAW at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, they could tune in to RAW just to see The Rock should the Seattle Seahawks lead the Detroit Lions in a big way.

In addition, a Seth Rollins versus The Rock match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at either Survivor Series or Royal Rumble could also very well boost PPV buyrates and WWE Network subscription numbers.

Maybe The Rock could be the solution that McMahon so desperately needs.
