Major Backstage Update – When Will Daniel Bryan Likely Debut For AEW?, CM Punk/AEW Update

We reported earlier tonight here on eWn that former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is “locked in” and has “100% already signed a contract with AEW.” According to a report from BodySlam.net, Bryan has reportedly signed a deal that will allow him to work less dates for around the same amount of money he was making in WWE. He will also be able to work for promotions in Japan.

In an update on this, BodySlam.net is now reporting that the tentative creative plans for Bryan Danielson’s AEW debut call for him to appear on September 22nd, which is when AEW heads to Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. The idea is to hold off Danielson’s debut until after their plans for All Out are finished. As you know, AEW often books well in advance and normally stick to those plans. Of course, there are some changes made due to crowd reactions, unforeseen injuries, etc.

For what it’s worth, AEW All Out takes place in Chicago, IL, which is the hometown of CM Punk. There’s been a lot of rumors today that CM Punk has also been in talks with AEW recently. If a deal is reached between the two sides, the company would obviously want to have CM Punk debut at AEW All Out in Chicago, IL. So with that being said, plans for Bryan Danielson’s debut may be bumped up or changed but it’s all going to depend on what happens with CM Punk and AEW. As of earlier today, talks between AEW and Punk were ongoing and no deal had been reached.

But as of now, the plan is for Bryan Danielson to make his AEW debut when the company debuts in New York City in front of 16,000+ fans. The event will likely draw closer to 19,000 fans when all is said and done. Either way, this show will mark AEW’s biggest live attendance to date.
