Konnan said on a podcast last week that Rey Mysterio would consider going back to WWE if he could get a reduced schedule. Mysterio doesn’t want a full-time schedule because he likes being home with his family.
Mysterio spoke with Sports Illustrated back in August and during that interview, Mysterio said that he did not leave WWE on bad terms and is willing to return to WWE if the right opportunity comes up.
“I didn’t leave on bad terms. I left on good terms with WWE, so I don’t want to say never. They treated me very well, and I’m nothing but thankful with that company for letting Rey Mysterio be Rey Mysterio and be recognized worldwide. If the opportunity comes about in the future, and there is interest from both parties, then why not?”
Mysterio has been referenced on WWE.com several times as well JBL mentioning Mysterio during the Royal Rumble match.
Dave Meltzer discussed that things are not going so well for Mysterio in AAA and Lucha Underground on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted the two promotions were hoping that Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio would be big stars for them. However, Del Rio left the two promotions to go back to WWE and Mysterio has said that he is willing to go back to WWE.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Mysterio and AAA are in a contract dispute because he is owed money. This would explain why Mysterio has not worked any AAA shows since late last year.
