WWE NXT returns to the USA Network next week and although Great American Bash is over, that hasn’t stopped the momentum of title matches being booked for Tuesday nights.

On the August 6th episode of WWE NXT, several things that transpired led directly to bouts being announced for next week’s show, with three of them involving championships.

Axiom and Nathan Frazer retained the NXT Tag Team Championships over MSK (Wes Lee and Zachary Wentz) in the main event. Earlier in the night, though, the next No. 1 contenders had already been decided, as Ridge Holland informed Chase University that he had gotten himself and Andre Chase a tag team title match for next week against the winners of this week’s bout. This upset Duke Hudson, who assumed at first that he would be the one teaming with Chase, as has always been the case.

On this same episode, Tony D’Angelo had propositioned No Quarter Catch Crew with an offer, facilitating an idea that if Wren Sinclair won her match against Kendal Grey (which she would go on to do), and if Charlie Dempsey and Myles Borne would allow her to be a member of No Quarter Catch Crew, then D’Angelo would grant Dempsey a shot at the NXT Heritage Cup.

In that segment, Oba Femi walked by and interrupted everyone, rudely. Later on, as Femi was leaving the WWE Performance Center, he was being interviewed in the parking lot and mentioned that he will defend the NXT North American Championship next week in an open challenge. Tony D’Angelo and The D’Angelo Family then interrupted him back in return to announce that the Heritage Cup match was made official.

Along with those matches, Eddy Thorpe will face Lexis King once more, reigniting their feud. This came about after they had to be separated from each other during the backstage barbecue.

Nothing yet has been announced as far as how NXT will follow up on some other lingering feuds, such as Trick Williams fighting with Pete Dunne backstage after their match. The same goes for the women’s division titles, though some matches were hinted at that may be announced later on.

Those would be Lola Vice and Jaida Parker both talking about how they deserve a shot at the NXT Women’s North American Championship (even though Wendy Choo stalking Kelani Jordan could be in the mix, too), and when several women were talking about how they’ve never had a title shot against Roxanne Perez, this prompted Robert Stone and Stevie Turner to plan to talk to Ava about setting up some multi-woman first-chance match of sorts.

That puts next week’s lineup currently at the following:

  • Eddy Thorpe vs. Lexis King
  • NXT Tag Team Championship Match: The Supersonic Duo (Axiom & Nathan Frazer) (c) vs. Chase University (Andre Chase & Ridge Holland)
  • NXT North American Championship Match: Oba Femi (c) vs. TBA
  • NXT Heritage Cup Match: Tony D’Angelo (c) vs. Charlie Dempsey
