Should There Be A Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes III? Who Should Win? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns had a big segment this past Friday night on WWE SmackDown, meeting up face-to-face inside Georgia Tech’s stadium to hash out some of their differences. While they’re clearly still antagonistic toward each other, they’re willing to temporarily work together to fight off The Bloodline. This tentative alliance is only skin-deep and won’t likely last long.

My question for you today is “Should there be a third match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns? If so, who would you book to win and why?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

Far be it from me to tell WWE to leave money on the table. I know I’m posing this question, so it’s weird to answer it with “It doesn’t matter what I think because it is going to happen regardless”, but that is ultimately the reality. In some form or fashion, we will see this match again.

I don’t think it should necessarily happen, to be honest. At least, it shouldn’t happen any time soon unless the game plan is to have it end in a No Contest of sorts. Double DQ with The Bloodline interfering or something? If so, do that at Crown Jewel, I guess.

Mind you, I’m still approaching this with the idea that I don’t want The Rock to beat Cody for the title at all. I want Cody to defend it at WrestleMania against Randy Orton, while Rock and Roman fight in a Tribal Combat match for the leadership of The Bloodline. So my path is biased toward that direction.

With that in mind, I would either only book them for a draw of sorts and leave it open-ended for 1-1-1 between them. I think if you establish dominance between one or the other, it will force the loser of the two into the B spot. Cody is more in danger of that than Roman, but Roman shouldn’t be pushed aside, either. I’d like to see Roman more so go after Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship to scratch that off his list instead.

But if they need to do the match with a definitive winner, I think it should only happen down the line once this story plays out. Maybe it can happen after a heel turn from Rhodes, so Roman can win and be the hero for one time in this tale, as he hasn’t been able to play babyface against Rhodes yet. I don’t love the idea, especially not more than my “leave it alone and don’t ruin it by botching the third” idea, but I’d rather that than just Cody beats Roman again soon or the opposite with Roman winning the title back soon.
