Former WWE World Champion Big E has talked about his love of hip-hop, as well as the first albums he purchased that made him fall in love with the genre.
Writing recently in The Players Tribune, Big E named the two albums he bought that would start a life-long love of hip-hop. He said,
“I fell in love with hip-hop. I still remember the first two albums I bought: NWA’s Straight Outta Compton and this Bone Thugs-n-Harmony hits compilation. I was only allowed to listen to classical and gospel music at home, so I had to hide them from my parents, but I’d listen any chance I got. I wore those CDs out. TV helped, too, and I discovered a lot of artists through music videos. I got really into 2Pac. Scarface. The Clipse. Also that Alien Ant Farm cover of ‘Smooth Criminal,’ I won’t lie.”
After being drafted away from The New Day in 2020, Big E received a new theme song performed by his friend and platinum-selling artist Wale.
On this week’s episode of RAW, Big E was betrayed by Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, who claimed that Big E would’ve returned from his broken neck if he cared about them.
Big E has been out of action since March of 2022 due to a broken neck. He has continued on with WWE in a variety of non in-ring roles.
