Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
1) What do you think will happen with the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring this time around?
If they’re having MJF defend it against the winner of the battle royal, I’m expecting Ricky Starks to win both of those matches. That way, in their mind, he looks strong going up against MJF for the world title, having beaten him for the lesser accolade by winning the ring. Only, of course, MJF will retain the AEW World Championship, so it’s all just a setup.
Ditching the previous idea of the final two in the battle royal having a singles match seems to be for a particular reason. Having the winner against MJF and having it be someone completely unrelated to Ricky just feels odd.
2) Ricochet won the SmackDown World Cup. What do you think will come out of this?
Realistically, nothing. I don’t think he’ll be winning the Intercontinental Championship back from Gunther.
It’s good to see Ricochet get a win like this, though. He needs more of them to boost his credibility after so long being in midcard limbo.
But they are clearly still hanging on to Braun Strowman against Gunther. So much so that I’m surprised Strowman didn’t win the World Cup, as that would have justified his title shot.
I guess Ricochet is there to stall, and Strowman is the challenger they’re building to for Royal Rumble?
3) Do you think William Regal will go back to WWE? If so, in what capacity?
I’ll believe it more when I see it, but I do think he’ll be back in WWE soon enough.
The way he was written off AEW television felt like a good means to say goodbye to him already. He’s cut ties with Blackpool Combat Club, which doesn’t seem to even be much of a thing anymore, and he went through two quick changes supporting MJF and being ditched by him. What else is he going to do?
In WWE, I expect him to go back to a similar role to what he was doing before as a talent scout and the right-hand man to Triple H much like Pat Patterson was to Vince McMahon. It wouldn’t shock me if he were an on-screen general manager of NXT or maybe even Raw or SmackDown, depending on if they want to keep Shawn Michaels as the authority of developmental.
4) What matches, if any, do you think will be added to the lineup for NXT Deadline, and who do you think will win the wildcard matches for spots in the Iron Survivor Challenge?
There’s room for two more matches, if not three, and some missing people from the card.
Originally, I thought Nikkita Lyons vs. Zoey Stark would happen. Now, I guess that spot could be reserved for Alba Fyre vs. Isla Dawn. Mandy Rose doesn’t seem to be defending her title like Bron Breakker, so this could fill the other women’s match.
Pretty Deadly is probably setting something up next Tuesday. I’d imagine they’ll defend their tag team titles against a team like Malik Blade and Edris Enofe if they’ve moved on from Von Wagner. I don’t think we’ll get Katana Chance and Kayden Carter defending their titles against Toxic Attraction or some other team, but that’s a possibility/alternative.
Tony D’Angelo is clearly going for Wes Lee’s NXT North American Championship. I’m more confident in that being added to the card than anything else.
5) What matches, if any, do you think will be added to the lineup for ROH Final Battle?
Samoa Joe defending the ROH TV Championship against Wardlow.
FTR defending the ROH Tag Team Championship against probably some random team that they’ll just announce at the last minute.
Perhaps the trios titles will be on the line in a similar fashion, against just three people for the sake of it. But maybe, that’ll be The Kingdom or The Embassy?
