Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

AEW Worlds End 2024 is in the bag as the final pay-per-view event of the year. As always, there were some good things and some disappointing parts worth reflecting on.

My question for you today is “What were your highlights and low points of AEW Worlds End 2024?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

For the most part, this was another standard AEW event for me where the matches delivered by and large, even if I feel like there isn’t too much to talk about beyond stating that most of them were solid in-ring segments.

With that in mind, it’s pretty easy for me to say that my highlight was the action between the ropes overall, with some extra shine to the MVP of the night, Will Ospreay. As much as I enjoyed Konosuke Takeshita against Powerhouse Hobbs or Mercedes Mone against Kris Statlander, for example, Ospreay’s matches with Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada earn him some bonus points for pulling double duty like that.

This isn’t all that surprising, as Ospreay has consistently been one of the best wrestlers on the roster who can seemingly have a great match with anyone, and when you put him in the ring with someone else who he has chemistry with, that’s just a recipe for success.

As far as my low point, in a general sense, it is that not much really happened on this show, all things considered. All the champions retained their titles. Mone had beaten Statlander before, so that’s just a rehash of what we’ve already seen, for instance, and I don’t think anyone really held Thunder Rosa in high regard to potentially beat Mariah May either.

Even the surprise returns weren’t surprising. Kenny Omega coming back to have a stare down with Okada was something you could call from a mile away. Adam Copeland and FTR wasn’t shocking, either, as this was all set up over the past month. To end the event with that felt more like a whimper than a big crescendo.

But I do have to give a shout out for my overall least favorite segment of the night, which was the Adam Cole and MJF match. Not only did the match itself not do much for me, but for it to end with MJF retaining his Dynamite Diamond Ring, getting beaten up by Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly, and those two embracing with Adam Cole, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven just to walk out a group of sore losers…bleh. This feud needs to end. The storyline has been snake bit since damn near the start of it and it’s gone on FAR too long with FAR too little up-swings to justify staying on this ride any longer. While I don’t think this is a satisfying conclusion, it’s better to just put it out of its misery now than to continue it, because I don’t have any faith at this point that they’ll stick the landing and somehow make this all worthwhile.
