Tonight on WWE SmackDown, Bayley and Naomi will face off to determine who gets the next shot at Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship. This is a follow-up to last week, wherein part of the stipulation of their tag team bout would have seen whichever one of them scored the pinfall victory being awarded the next title opportunity. However, they both pinned Jax at the same time, despite how only one of them was the legal competitor. WWE just doesn’t want you to think much about that and the sheer lack of logic. Hey, it’s pro wrestling—when’s the last time an instant replay was utilized?
Therefore, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis decided to just book the two potential challengers in a No. 1 contender’s match on tonight’s episode instead.
My question for you today is “Who should win? Bayley? Naomi? Or should this become a Triple Threat somehow with both getting a title shot?”

As far as my answer…
To be perfectly honest, I don’t want to see any of these 3 match options. I know it’s a means to an end and killing time until the real story happens with Tiffany Stratton cashing in either on Nia Jax herself or on whoever beats Jax for the title (if so, Charlotte Flair, I’d bet) but that doesn’t mean I need to enjoy the ride just because it’s there.
However, not only is it my prediction, but it’s also my preference that if it has to be between Naomi or Bayley, I’d go with both. At least a Triple Threat offers more variety than seeing a straight-up rerun of what we’ve already seen in singles competition.
Jax, to her credit, has been better this run than I anticipated she’d be when she was first announced to be returning. I still don’t think she’s some fantastic in-ring performer that can have a great match with anyone, though. The same goes for Bayley and Naomi. The capability of putting on a good performance and the history of being able to do so from many years ago isn’t the same as being able to pull it off now. Just look at Chris Jericho.
If it’s just Bayley, it makes Naomi look kind of lame for coming up short, and the match will just be what we saw at SummerSlam. Naomi winning would just create the same basic style match, but with her as the challenger, and would relegate Bayley to the sidelines in an odd way. A Triple Threat at least opens up the field to wondering who will take the pin and how will they incorporate the No Disqualification element to it. I’d assume it would come down to Stratton getting involved and hitting someone with the Money in the Bank briefcase, either to help Jax win or to pin Bayley or Naomi in order to steal the title. That’s the most interesting scenario I’d go with, at least.
