5) “Will The Broserweights crumble with Matt Riddle or Pete Dunne turning on the other?”
MANGO: If it happens, it wouldn’t shock me. But I don’t actually think that will go down. Riddle has more life in him lately and this lack of enthusiasm from Dunne is funny. Dunne turning heel could be a good thing for the future, but right now isn’t the time to pull that trigger.
BALAZ: Hopefully not. It would devalue the tag tournament even more than it already has with throw together teams winning more often than not, just for story shenanigans to ensue.
MITCHELL: I would hope that team doesn’t break up. But if it must happen, it ain’t Riddle turning Heel, bro.
ABSLER: The foreshadowing on last week’s NXT episode told me everything I needed to know. I think it is just a matter of time before Dunne turns on Riddle. During their promo, Riddle was far more enthusiastic than Dunne. His face was all smiles and Dunne looked particularly angry and unenthused. This team can’t coexist for long considering the star power both these men have as singles competitors and in the end, Dunne is the heel.
JAY: Eventually. It’s the only reason they were put together in the first place.
BONNETTE: Sure hope not. Let some folks stay together for once.
SCAFIDE: It’s a shame it has to be this way and come down to one of them having to turn on the other. I think they should just lose on Sunday and silently just break them up. But nope, this will be an eventual feud that doesn’t do anything for either man. Yes, they will crumble as a team – and a Broserweight singles match at Takeover: Tampa seems “logical”, bro.
STAPLE: I can’t see them turning on each other so soon after winning the tournament together. Dunne and Riddle could have some good matches together, but I think it’d be kind of abrupt for them to all of a sudden start being at each other’s throats. I could see a segment on NXT that sees them blame each other, though.
COOK: It doesn’t look good for them. When we think of singles stars coming together to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, we remember Samoa Joe & Finn Balor doing so back in 2015. Joe turned on Balor not too long afterward. Aleister Black & Ricochet won the Dusty Classic in 2019…they didn’t turn on each other, but they managed to lose NXT, Raw & SmackDown Tag Team Championship matches during their time together. Given all this, one wouldn’t expect Dunne & Riddle to last too long together. I think the turn happens, but not in Portland and at the earliest just after WrestleMania.
JEANNINE: I think Dunne will turn on Riddle.
DEMARCO: Pete Dunne is pretty beloved, but I could honestly see him turning heel. It would be quite poetic, given that Roddy Strong turned on him to join Undisputed Era in the past. If it’s to bring British Strong Style to NXT proper, and turn them heel, I’m all for it.
