Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
This time around, so much has happened the past few days that I’m giving you a triple dose. Part 1 will be about NXT In Your House, part 2 about the AEW World Championship scene and part 3 will focus on Hell in a Cell.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
1) Solo Sikoa has the next North American Championship title shot. Will he beat Carmelo Hayes?
I had thought Cameron Grimes would retain and lose it to Solo Sikoa. Now that Hayes is champion again, I have my doubts Sikoa will come out on top. It seems strange to take the belt off Hayes, wait a few weeks, have him win it back, then drop it again. Of course, WWE doesn’t always follow logic and will often swerve things just for the sake of keeping fans on their toes, so it’s certainly a possibility.
Right now, prior to NXT, I’m banking on Sikoa coming up short. Maybe something happens on NXT that convinces me otherwise, though.
2) How long before Legado del Fantasma breaks free from being part of Tony D’Angelo’s crew now that they lost at In Your House?
I fundamentally cannot imagine all those personalities will mesh well, both in storyline and just in functionality. There will be too many people to keep track of and WWE will want to split them back up again sooner, rather than later.
My best estimate is that this only lasts until Great American Bash. A month from now, there will be some match that will separate the two groups once more.
3) Roxanne Perez or Tiffany Stratton. Who wins the final of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament this Tuesday?
At this point, I fully expect Toxic Attraction’s tag titles to go to Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade, rather than for Perez to beat Mandy Rose for the singles title. Stratton makes no sense to win the tournament and fight for any of those belts, so here’s how I see it going down.
Perez wins the tournament. She gets a singles match against Rose, again. While she puts up a good fight, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne interfere to cost her the match. Cora Jade helps out and as compensation for the cheating, Jade and Perez are able to get a tag title shot at Great American Bash. Then, that’s when those tag titles change hands, while WWE waits for Nikkita Lyons to heal up and be the one to beat Rose.
4) With The Creed Brothers as tag team champions and Roderick Strong not having to kick them out of the group, what is the future of Diamond Mine?
My guess is Roderick Strong will congratulate them and try to take credit for their win. He’ll say his ultimatum was the motivating factor that got them over the hump so they could capture the belts. Then, The Creed Brothers will actually boot Strong out of the group, with Ivy Nile’s support, or they’ll willingly quit Diamond Mine to avoid being underneath the hand of someone they’ve lost trust and respect for.
5) Bron Breakker has definitively beaten Joe Gacy. Who should be his next challenger?
In an ideal world, they would have built up Duke Hudson for this. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case. He’s lost too many times recently to be taken seriously as a threat.
Grayson Waller, though, does have wins to his name. He stands out as the most likely next No. 1 contender, unless they want to hot shot Von Wagner into that position, but I don’t think he’s ready. Waller’s handled the spotlight rather well before/during/after his feud with AJ Styles. I can see him being a worthwhile challenger for the next few weeks building up to Great American Bash.
If not Waller, I’d rather the next challenger be someone from the main roster coming down for a guest spot. This could be a great role for someone like Apollo Crews, who isn’t doing anything on Raw right now. Maybe T-Bar, if they aren’t going to be putting him in Judgment Day like I’m still holding out hope for?
