Give Stakes To The Women’s WarGames Match | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

This year’s Women’s WarGames match is official. At WWE Survivor Series 2024, we will see Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill and Naomi against Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae.

In typical fashion, this is a match purely for the sake of having the match. There are no stipulations attached to it, nor any real reason for them to be fighting beyond just wanting to beat up at least one person on the opposite team. If you want to apply any logic to it, it really doesn’t even make any sense why someone like Naomi would have any beef with Raquel Rodriguez in the grand scheme, or why Rhea Ripley would want the head of Candice LeRae.

But ignoring how that’s the case, let’s say you were magically given a key to WWE Creative and you were tasked with the idea of giving this some sort of stakes—a purpose for why these two teams of individuals would want to work together to win this match other than just a grudge feud.

My question for you today is “What stakes would you attach to this year’s Women’s WarGames match and why?”

As far as my answer…

The way I see it, the biggest logic gap hurdle to cross is why Liv Morgan and Nia Jax would team with one another so soon after feuding. They JUST fought at Crown Jewel.

My proposal would be that Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis sat down and agreed to a stipulation that would make it worth their while. As champions, if they are victorious, they will count this as a title defense and both of them can skip the next 30 days and have off for the holidays. Essentially, Morgan and Jax would be safe as champions until January. It would appeal to the cowardly heel nature in them, as they would want to bypass having to retain their titles again, and they’d walk into 2025 with momentum as champions, making it easier to potentially keep their belts until WrestleMania.

That would be worth them putting aside their differences. Then, their underlings (Raquel, Stratton and LeRae) would just fall in line.

Contrary, if the babyface team wins, they’ll shoot up to the top of the contender ranks. Effectively, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky would be the next two in line to fight Morgan in December, while Belair, Cargill and Naomi would be in line for a shot at Jax within the next few weeks, too. Who fights? Well, that depends. If you get the pin for your team, you get the match. That, and/or the opposite people are put in title matches regardless. For example, if Sky got the pin, she gets her match with Morgan very soon. If Ripley were to get the pin, since Sky is already No. 1 contender, it becomes a Triple Threat in December. Maybe SmackDown has a Fatal 4-Way with Belair, Cargill, Naomi and Jax. That way, Jax can potentially even lose her title via Stratton cash-in where Tiffany doesn’t even need to pin Jax to win it. She can pin Naomi, and all parties feel screwed. Likewise, Ripley can beat Morgan for the Women’s World Championship and get back on board.
