WWE should just create a new PPV called “Rematch”. Look at this card. You have three rematches from Night of Champions (Ryback/Owens, Charlotte/Nikki, New Day/Dudleyz), one from the past five months (Wyatt/Reigns), one from Summerslam (Lesnar/Taker), one from YESTERDAY (Ziggler/Neville/Cesaro vs. Rusev/Sheamus/Barrett – though caused by Orton’s injury) and one from RAW that they foolishly did last week (Rollins/Kane). The only new match is Cena’s open challenge. Yet WWE still doesn’t know why they are at record low ratings. Well, the card still looks good on paper, so I guess I can’t be too frustrated. Let’s go through them one by one.
Kevin Owens (C) vs. Ryback – Intercontinental Championship
Like most of the other matches on this card, the build to this match has been rather…..dull. It’s not bad per say, but there’s just nothing to follow. There’s really nothing to look into this other than the fact that Ryback is pretty butthurt about losing his belt. Meanwhile WWE has booked Owens as they should be. By defeating people on the jobber portion of the roster to maintain his credibility. I see no reason to take the belt off of Owens and I’d be dammed if WWE chooses to put the belt on Ryback (which was a mistake to begin with). I’m not expecting anything more than their previous match and with matches on the card that can steal the show, I’m not putting my expectations high. I just expect a decent, inoffensive bout with KO retaining once again, as he should.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Charlotte (C) vs. Nikki Bella – Divas Championship
I can’t conceive that Charlotte is that much of a threat considering that all Brie needed to do was dropkick her from the top rope to pin her last week. Clearly she’s not that tough. Anyways, I’m thinking that Paige might be involved in some way here with all of the promos she’s been doing for approximately the past month and eventually feud with Charlotte. I don’t expect Nikki to walk out, but I think Paige might do something to help Charlotte retain so the two can build to a feud in the future. I think that’s a reasonable assumption. Or perhaps another Diva makes a statement. I ‘m thinking some sort of outside force will get involved. I actually liked the match these two put on at Night of Champions, and I think Nikki doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how far she’s come in terms of having to work a match. Considering that she carried Charlotte in their last match, I was more than surprised. This time last year, you wouldn’t find one person that would believe Nikki would carry most of a match against Charlotte. Expect the champion to retian here once again.
Winner: Charlotte
Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt – Hell In A Cell
These two have been feuding since Money In The Bank. MONEY IN THE BANK. You know when that was? June. JUNE! We still don’t even know why Bray attacked Roman in the first place. Normally, Bray just says a lot of things an goes off on tangents that is hard for me to understand, but sometimes he does invoke a reason as to why he’s in a certain feud. All we have is him saying “Anyone, but you.” What’s that supposed to mean? That he refuses to lose to Roman in a game of Halo? I think these two have just been meandering and going through the motions because they have nothing better to do at the moment. Now, as for this particular match, I think it will be really good. Sure, they may work slow, but they both wrestle physical styles, and a Hell In A Cell match would suit them perfectly for their respective styles. Also, since they have been feuding for all this time, I suppose this would be the most ideal blow-off for their feud. Bray picked up a win over Roman at Battleground, Roman got his revenge at Summerslam, and Bray got him back at Night of Champions. So it’s 2-1 Bray, and I con only suspect that Roman will get his revenge to leave the feud on top. I mean, heaven forbid if Roman doesn’t look strong. This will be the first Hell In A Cell match for Roman and Bray so it will be interesting to see what kind of match they work. Rollins and Ambrose put on a pretty good show for their match last year, sp now it’s they’re turn to show us what they got.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Seth Rollins (C) vs. Kane – WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Well, Kane already defeated Rollins last week on RAW, so it pretty much should tell you all you need to know regarding who is going to win this match. If you want to know why the ratings for RAW have been so putrid, here is exhibit A. have your young, top heel of the company feud with a man that shouldn’t be in WWE Title feuds anymore. They seriously couldn’t find something else for Seth to do? The mere fact that Kane is feuding with Rollins 2015 is baffling in of itself, and to have Kane pin Rollins clean two week before their match is even more stupid. Let’s put some perspective into this. Rollins defeated Sting cleanly after going through 15-20 minutes with Cena before. As far as I’m concerned, he shouldn’t get pinned unless he takes a real good beating and I didn’t even see Rollins sweat in his match against Kane. Alas, WWE booking at its finest. I have no question Seth will walk out as champion, whether by DQ’ing himself or pinning him, but what I’m wondering is if this is the moment where Sheamus cashes in. Kane did cost him that opportunity at Night of Champions, and that was about as good a time as ever to cash in that contract. So does Sheamus come in at the end of the match and take out both Rollins and Sheamus and walk out as champion? It is tough to say. Believe it or not, the road to WrestleMania 32 is, for all intents and purposes, here. All we have left is Survivor Series and TLC, and boom, Royal Rumble. Here’s the question. Is Seth going to be champion then? I’ve been wrong on Sheamus cashing in the past couple of occasions so I say he still holds onto the briefcase (might be a jinx) and I say Seth wins. Because duh.
Winner: Seth Rollins
John Cena’s Open Challenge
This will be the second straight show where there will be a mystery wrestler, and in this case, he will have an opportunity to become the next United States Champion. Now the question, of course, is who will answer the call? I have a couple of theories. You could have Tyler Breeze; news broke over the past week that Breeze was set to make his debut on the main roster within the next couple of weeks. The question, of course is if he will debut here. I think there’s a really good chance that he does. I’m thinking the purpose for Cena is to elevate whoever challenges him, but then again, elevation and John Cena in the same phrase isn’t really appropriate. I think this is the most likely person to make his debut, but we shall see. Or you could have Dean Ambrose, a man who isn’t currently scheduled for Hell In A Cell due to Orton’s shoulder injury. I have been thinking for a time that Dean Ambrose was going to turn heel with the constant teases WWE had with cracks within the brotherhood with him and Reigns. I’m not sure if a second United States Championship run would do much good to him, but at the same time, with Cena taking time off after Hell In A Cell, I believe he will drop the belt and have someone carry the load in his place.
Ambrose has been in relative obscurity for the majority of 2015, picking up only 3 PPV wins this year (One by DQ at Elimination Chamber, a disjointed match at Extreme Rules and a tag match at Summerslam). He needs to get some momentum going into WrestleMania season, because I do believe he is very talented, but he needs the right program. He’s as good as WWE will allow him to be, For all intents and purposes I say Tyler Breeze wins the belt and as I say that (SPOILER ALERT!) Tyler Breeze made his debut on Smackdown and attacked Dolph Ziggler, which leads me to believe they’ll be feuding for the forseeable future. The US Title may be a great way to make the feud more interesting. Give this time, and I think this will be the show-stealer. I really think so.
Winner: Tyler Breeze
The New Day (C) vs. The Dudley Boyz – WWE Tag Team Championship
This is a hard match to predict. There have been too many screw jobs from The New Day that helped them retain by DQ. Is WWE really willing to be unoriginal and do it again this Sunday? At the same time, The New Day have been getting the better of The Dudleyz as well, but with The DUdleyz picking up a loss on RAW leading into Sunday, I’m thinking The Dudley Boyz will finally get the belts back. The New Day are one of, if not the best thing that consistently is on RAW every week. I don’t think they necessarily NEED the titles to make them watchable, but them holding the belts does add that dynamic to them. And besides, what other tag team is set to feud with after? The Decension? The Garbage Time Players? Perhaps new tag teams will develop, but we’ll have to see. I’m going with my gut here and say that the Dudleyz finally win once again, but this is a vote of no confidence.
Winners: The Dudley Boyz
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker – Hell In A Cell
When I grow as old as the Undertaker, I need to contact him to teach me how to grow back all of my hair like that. He looks 10 years younger all of a sudden. The booking for this feud has been all over the place and is practically devoid of all logic. First of all, Michael Cole has consistently called this a “13 year feud beginning at WrestleMania 30”. A third grader can figure out what’s wrong with that statement. Secondly, WWE has no idea who they want us to cheer for. With Lesnar ending the streak, Lesnar is the clear heel because we need to fill sympathy for the Undertaker. However, Undertaker is pegged as a sore loser when he cost Lesnar in his match against Rollins at Battleground. Then, he clearly tapped at Summerslam, but with a stupid finish, Undertaker low blows him and picks up the tainted victory. THEN, this past Monday, we see Undertaker challenging Lesnar and Lesnar does what a heel would do and walk away. It’s like they’re both supposed to be faces and heels at the same time. I also find it laughable that WWE has blatantly neglected that these two have fought INSIDE HELL IN A CELL before at No Mercy in 2002, where Brock Lesnar picked up the win. Don’t you think perhaps that Undertaker may want some revenge? The ignorance is baffling. So who should win all depends on who needs the win more. Undertaker is on his last legs and after this match he probably won’t wrestle again until WrestleMania, unless the RAW ratings are so putrid that they’ll have to drag him back for more dates. Meanwhile Lesnar hasn’t taken a clean defeat since WrestleMania 29, and I’m assuming WWE will continue to protect him until his next feud.
Undertaker has never picked up a clean one on one pinfall or submission victory against Brock Lesnar in their entire career, and seeing as how this will be the final time they fight, it may be unfathomable to think Undertaker would lose yet again. At the same time, is Lesnar really going to lose two straight times on PPV? My head hurts. This is a coin toss if I’ve ever seen one. If I have to go sorely on what WWE wants to accomplish, I have to say Lesnar. I’m sorry, but I just don’t think that Undertaker really needs it that bad, unless WWE wants to reward Undertaker for his service and give him a lifetime achievement victory. Plans can always change literally right before the show, or maybe during the show, so it’s 50-50 for me, but I’m going with my gut and will choose the beast incarnate.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Agree? Disagree? Wish I drank poison? You know the drill, let me know. Until next time.
