Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
Reportedly, Malakai Black may be leaving All Elite Wrestling by the end of the year or early 2025. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. But SHOULD it happen?
My question for you today is “Do you think Malakai Black leaving AEW would be a good idea? Why or why not?”

As far as my answer…
Naturally, none of us can speak to backstage elements, but I would assume if Black were to go back to WWE, he’d be happier in his relationship as his wife (Zelina Vega) works there. Coordinating their schedules to spend more time together is a massive bonus. But there are examples of that not being the case, like Buddy Matthews in his own stable not just working for the same company that employs Rhea Ripley. If they have a system that works, good for them; maybe they enjoy the time apart, even.
Obviously, if he were to leave AEW and go anywhere other than WWE, then that is a moot point and it makes me wonder why he’d do it. I can’t imagine anyone would pay more, none have more exposure than WWE, and none other than AEW would have the best schedule to money ratio. Unless he just desperately wanted to be a world champion and TNA would be promising him that in his contract, then I’d assume it’s WWE or staying in AEW with this report being bogus.
One of the big benefits of going back to WWE would be the possibility he gets a bigger push than he has in AEW. It’s been long enough that it is clear Tony Khan does not look at him as a world champion, as he never even contends for the titles. Black joining AEW to be a tag team guy I’m sure wasn’t his preference. WWE might not be willing to go that far with him, either, but I think he could find himself in United States Championship territory.
I’d like to see Black feuding with some more guys in AEW that are still on the roster, but I’d also like to see him against some WWE Superstars. It’s a bit of a wash to name guys like Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, Adam Page, Jon Moxley, and Orange Cassidy and then, other the WWE side, bring up Bron Breakker, Damian Priest, Ilja Dragunov, CM Punk, Carmelo Hayes and so on. He’s got plenty options on both, so that’s tied.
For my own curiosity’s sake, and since I’m admittedly more of a WWE guy than an AEW guy, I’d like to see him go back to Raw or SmackDown just to freshen things up. I know in AEW, I could tune in any week to see him in a match against someone at random that I’d enjoy, but there’s more of a chance I’d see him in a feud with someone in WWE that I’d enjoy even more. But if he stays in AEW, I won’t be disappointed.
