Should Parts Unknown Be Brought Back Into Pro Wrestling? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Back in the day, many different wrestlers were billed from Parts Unknown. It was a general placeholder for characters that were more monstrous like The Missing Link, but also some strange others were given the distinction. Why was Brutus Beefcake from there? Or Ultimate Warrior? We’ll probably never know.

But it’s been a long time since this idea was used, and since today is Halloween and I was trying to brainstorm some question concepts based around that, it dawned on me that we haven’t seen this in what I feel is far too long.

My question for you today is “If you brought back Parts Unknown, who would you bill from there? If not, should Parts Unknown be retired forever?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

I feel like The Beast Mortos was a missed opportunity to bring this back, as he’s one of the few characters going on right now that is presented as a “monster”, as strange as it feels in 2024 to have someone grunting like that.

Hologram could have been billed from there, too, if they wanted to play into more of the whimsical otherworldliness of him being less of a luchador and more of a digital creation. That’s a big stretch that I wouldn’t really entertain for more than just a roundtable meeting pitching random ideas, but it’s something that did pop into my brain when looking at the roster.

Luther is billed from The Kingdom of Nye. That’s effectively a Parts Unknown under another name. I’m going to count that as a location within Parts Unknown. The same goes for Abadon being from “The Black Hills.” They certainly fit the motif better than Orange Cassidy being from “Wherever”

WWE doesn’t have many people that I would even remotely consider, but I do think Akam and Rezar could have worked for that if their gimmicks and appearances were tweaked a bit to be less thugs in flak jackets and more fitting to the Final Testament theme. The same, of course, applies to Karrion Kross, or The Wyatt Sicks for that matter.

But the big one that I would have pulled the trigger on, as there wouldn’t have been anything to get in the way of it (as in reintroducing a new backstory after having already established someone’s from elsewhere) would have been Zaria. She already has a sort of Mad Max vibe about her. She’s not being presented as “fans should know everything about DELTA” in the sense of bringing in Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer keeping their names. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter, but I think Zaria being billed from Parts Unknown would have been a cool concept to throw it back to an old school thing.
