Should WWE Introduce A Female Money In The Bank Match Next Year?

One of the most controversial subjects in WWE over the pastyear surrounds the current WWE Divas. From the hash tag”#GiveDivasAChance” to the current divas revolution, the women of the WWE are finding a way to develop their current role into something bigger. With the first ever female 30 minute iron man match set between Sasha Banks and Bayley at the next NxT Takeover event: There is no reason the current brand of women on the main card can’t push the boundary even further and take on a Money In The Bank match at the event next year.

Since its introduction, the Money In The Bank PPV has become quite an intriguing addition to the year. With each version of the PPV containing at least 2 ladder matches, and one superstar almost guaranteed to be
a future champion there’s no reason that this event shouldn’t generate a big buzz. However, up until 2014, there had always been 2 ladder matches for a money in the bank briefcase. One being for a World title match and the other for a WWE championship match. But, since the two biggest prizes unified, there has only been a need for one money in the bank match.

Personally, I have always been intrigued by the Money In The Bank briefcase. The fact that the contract holder is guaranteed to have a world title shot at anytime can be exciting, especially if the cash-in is unexpected. With only one current world championship on the roster, the amount of matches for a briefcase has been cut down from one to two over the past couple of years, with a second ladder match usually taking place for the belt itself.

Whilst there is always a possibility of having a midcard briefcase which the holder can cash in for either the US or IC title, that would risk making the championships feel less important. Whilst you could argue the fact that the lower championships are getting a little boost having a briefcase just for them, shouldn’t the current WWE briefcase be open to cash in for cash in on these two titles? The holder of the briefcase will always go for the world title because it’s obvious more prestigious. But for me, in some way, it would feel like WWE would be making it too clear that the other 2 titles mean less, despite spending the best part of this year making them more credible.

Of course, there is the chance of a tag team MITB… surely that’s too chaotic? Although, they did manage to pull off an entertaining whilst chaotic elimination chamber match I’d be very shocked to see a tag team version of MITB. But if somehow they pull it off, New Day has to win.

Which leads to one option, which you can probably tell by the title, is a divas version of Money In The Bank. With the division on the rise seeing the women on the roster get a match like this would be great. Plus, having a woman lurking around with a briefcase is something new and exciting which could bring the attention of the casual fans, which can only be a good thing. Plus, the match itself would generate a huge buzz. A ladder match between numerous divas is something new, and new is always (or always almost) a good thing in WWE. Plus, the cash-in itself would feel special. Who would win it? who knows. The only thing I know is the holder of the briefcase would also get a huge rub as they are the first ever holder of the women’s briefcase. It would also make diva matches feel more important because the MITB holder could cash in at anytime.

With a women’s roster getting bigger and bigger, it should only a matter of time before they start getting higher profile matches like the male side. Who knows, if creative do go with a MITB match, maybe even one day we will see the likes of an Elimination Chamber in the future of women’s wrestling.
