Should WWE Stand & Deliver Just Be NXT vs TNA? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

No matches have been announced for the next two big shows going on in NXT (the Roadblock television episode on March 11th and WWE Stand & Deliver premium live event on WrestleMania Saturday). However, the partnership between NXT and TNA got another shot in the arm last night with Moose appearing and setting up not only an X Division Championship match for next week (along with The Hardy Boys against No Quarter Catch Crew), but also, Moose versus Oba Femi is officially out there for the future.

Given how big of a show Stand & Deliver is, and how there is Roadblock right there to finish up some of the true NXT-only feuds going on right now, my question for you today is “Should Stand and Deliver just be NXT vs TNA?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

If I were to give a straight-up yes or no response, it would be no. I don’t think this entire pay-per-view should be NXT stars against TNA stars. That is better reserved for something specific happening where the premium live event is built around the concept and named either Worlds Collide or Bragging Rights. It should have champions against each other, as well as a Survivor Series type of team elimination match concept as well.

But I do think Stand & Deliver should have some crossovers in some fashion. It just needs to be on a case-by-case basis.

For example, at this point, I think the obvious thing to do with the tag team division—wherein there just aren’t any good options to face Fraxiom right now that hasn’t already been done to death—is to have Matt and Jeff Hardy beat Myles Borne and Tavion Heights before making it clear that they want to face Axiom and Nathan Frazer.

Putting The Hardy Boyz (with a Z, since it’s WWE) on that card will instantly boost its visibility to the casual audience that followed them in older eras. Some people will watch the event strictly because of that. Having Fraxiom get the win, too, will put them over super well.

I’m a little worried that WWE has screwed up Trick Williams so much that they can’t have him fight and lose to Oba Femi again, nor can they have him beat Femi and stick around in NXT, so I don’t think Femi/Williams is the pairing I’d go with for Stand & Deliver. But I’m not sure I’d put Moose in that match right now, either. Granted, he’s a more interesting challenger than if they just went with Eddy Thorpe again or something, so I’d actually root for that to take place at S&D more than the Trick match, but I think something would need to be done to make it seem like there’s an actual chance Moose wins the title.

The women’s division absolutely does not need anyone from TNA coming over and screwing with this roster, though. As it is, I don’t think there’s enough room to get everyone on the card that should be. Assuming Roxanne Perez is out and on the main roster (which might not even 100% be true), you still have to juggle Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Jordynne Grace, and hopefully Fatal Influence’s 3 members, Kelani Jordan, Jaida Parker, Karmen Petrovic, Zaria, Sol Ruca, etc etc etc. The last thing we need right now is to have someone in the women’s division of TNA coming in when they’re not as big of a deal.

Doing Fraxiom vs Hardy Boyz and Femi vs Moose and leaving it at that doesn’t take any more than 2 matches away from the proposed Worlds Collide event, which will still have plenty to work with when that should come around post-Mania (ideally sometime in June or so)
