Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day! Continuing on with our series this week focusing on WWE SummerSlam 2024, one of the biggest questions for tomorrow’s event will be whether someone—anyone—will appear as a surprise in the Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa match.
By all accounts, it could be no one, but you’d have to assume with such a major show, someone will make an appearance. That could be Jimmy Uso making his return, the debut of Hikuleo (aka Talla Tonga), a return of Roman Reigns or even The Rock.
My question for you today is “Who, if anyone, do you think will make a special appearance in this match?”

I’ll jump ahead a bit and preface this by saying my prediction is that Cody Rhodes will retain the WWE Championship. By that nature, I can’t imagine anyone is going to show up here, interfere, and allow Solo Sikoa to be victorious.
That almost entirely rules out Talla Tonga in my mind. Bringing in Hikuleo as a debut just to have him fail in his mission, while there are all those other members backing up Sikoa as well, would be a terrible way to introduce him. He’s much better off showing up on an episode of SmackDown for a beating or something. Therefore, if he does pop up here, it isn’t to be a part of the finish of the match.
To that end, I don’t think we’ll see Jimmy Uso make his return, either. Jey Uso hasn’t even been brought back into the fold for this enough yet, and I think it’s instrumental to see Jimmy and Jey unified instead of Jimmy randomly helping out Cody. When we last saw Jimmy, he was being excommunicated from the group by Sikoa, so he can try to get his revenge, but I’m not sure now is the time to do it when everyone is going to be hoping for bigger names. It sounds harsh, but realistically, if you compare Jimmy to Roman or Rock, there simply is no comparison.
I don’t think The Rock is showing up, either. It is one of the biggest shows of the year, so it’s a possibility, but now might be too early. I fully expect Roman to lead a WarGames team alongside Cody, The Usos and someone like Sami Zayn against The Rock’s group of Sikoa, Tonga Loa, Tama Tonga, Talla Tonga and Jacob Fatu, for Survivor Series. But just as Paul Heyman will be in a supporting role, I expect The Rock to do the same and not to compete whatsoever (outside of influencing the outcome). There are many months left to get to that point, and I don’t think The Rock will start that story here.
I do, however, think we’ll see Roman Reigns. Granted, I’m not sold on this, as it could go many different ways, but I think what we’ll see is Rhodes beats Sikoa to retain the title and all hell breaks loose. Sikoa’s goons beat down Rhodes. Cody’s allies (Kevin Owens and Randy Orton primarily) will bring on the fight, but the numbers will be too high, even if Sami Zayn and/or Jey Uso help out. When Sikoa is standing tall, though, that is when Roman’s music will hit. He’ll clear house and there will be a stare down between Reigns and Rhodes to end SummerSlam, as fans wonder what the real Tribal Chief’s motives are.
I do expect Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa to be at an event like Bad Blood, with Bash in Berlin in the meantime featuring some kind of tag team match of sorts to stall, with this being the first step toward that.
