Sabu Cuts His Arm Deep, Tapes It Up, And Carries On.
The third entry of Sabu getting injured .. and this time it’s not his neck. The crazy thing is I’ve been looking for a decent quality video of Funk vs. Sabu in their barbed wire match for a long time .. and today I finally found it! You can see the deep cut to Sabu’s arm at the 10-minute mark. Enjoy the match while you can, because there’s no telling how long it will stay up.
Marty Garner Botches The Pedigree.
In 1996 Hunter Hearst Helmsley was moving up the ranks in the WWF. On a taping of WWF Superstars, Helmsley went for his finisher The Pedigree, but Marty Garner had not taken the move before. Garner assumed Helmsley was going for a underhook powerbomb or suplex, so instead of dropping, he tried to flip upwards, landed on his neck, and suffered neck damage. The match was still shown later in the week in its entirety. Helmsley performed the move as intended.
Garner returned to wrestling in the WWE ten years later as a jobber, and after leaving the company continues to wrestle on the independent scene.
Big Show Throws Ziggler Into Barrett Too Hard And Dislocates His Shoulder.
Remember this from 2012? Two angles tell the story.
Vader Breaks Joe Thurman’s Back.
At the 1:50 mark, Vader decided to go for a powerbomb on Thurman. Vader realized immediately and “pinned” him. Thurman recovered from it.
The Rock Smashes Mankind With A Chair 10 Times.
I consider this one of the hardest to watch. Chair shots to the head were banned due to concussions and the more recent research in to CTE, so at the time it was brutal, but accepted, whereas now it’s a mixed bag of feelings. Foley talked to Steve Austin about it in a Stone Cold Podcast (wanted to embed it but the option was disabled), and said it was a big moment for his career despite it getting out of hand due to Rocky going too far.
Nick Page Holds Organs In After Flying Through Light Tubes.
Not only was he cut so badly he had to hold his stomach so his intestines didn’t fall out .. he wanted to continue wrestling. Instead, he cut a promo as CZW staff and medical personnel did everything in their power to get him to the hospital whether he wanted too or not. It is not for the faint-hearted. The injury is shown at the link >>> https://giant.gfycat.com/MilkyKeenGerbil.mp4
Owen Hart Breaks Austin’s Neck.
Two Legends, One Avoidable Botch. One careless piledriver is all it takes to injure someone’s neck, and it’s safe to say Austin’s career was cut short.
Lesnar Accidently Drops Holly On His Neck.
For a long time fans were told Hardcore Holly sandbagged the move which resulted in Lesnar dropping him on his head, but in a recent interview with Holly, he shot the theory down and said there was no way he could sandbag the strength of Lesnar even if he wanted too.
Also the sequence they were about to perform was to make Holly look good, so to sandbag it wouldn’t make sense from Holly’s perspective. At the end of the day, it was an accident, Lesnar apologized, and there was never any backstage heat between them.
Goldberg Ends The Career Of Bret Hart.
Fans still hold resentment towards Goldberg over this, and frankly I don’t blame them. Very careless and dangerous. On the other hand, injuries happen and I can’t see Goldberg doing it on purpose. He apologized, but that wasn’t enough for Bret Hart’s fans. 17-minute mark for the kick.
Sid Vicious Breaks His Leg.
Umm .. no words are necessary.
Rick Steiner Injures Buff Bagwell
Even a simple move like a bulldog can lead to injury. If you’re going to try it at home, do NOT do it like this.
Career Ending Injury For Shawn Michaels.
At Royal Rumble 1998, Shawn Michaels challenged The Undertaker to a casket match. HBK took a back body drop and hits his lower back hard on the casket. While HBK continued the match like nothing happened, he had two herniated discs and crushed one of them completely. He was forced to retire after losing the title to Austin at Wrestlemania.
Cornette Drops From Scaffold And Blows Both Knees Out.
Oh Jim, well you wanted to get involved so this is the price you have to pay sometimes
Zema Ion Breaks Jesse Sorenson’s Neck.
A few years ago on TNA Impact Wrestling, Zema Ion tried for a moonsault to the outside and broke Sorenson’s neck, instantly paralyzing the young kid. TNA gave Jesse an office job, and promised he would have a job for life .. but several months later they terminated his contract and the company received major backlash from fans. Jesse eventually recovered from his injuries and currently works as a NXT jobber.
Triple H Tears His Quad And Finishes The Match.
Stone Cold and Triple H were teaming to take on Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit in the main event of Raw. At the 6:30 mark, Triple H entered the ring to break up the Walls Of Jericho, but in the process completely tore his left quadriceps. As you will see, instead of quitting and telling the ref he couldn’t continue, he carried on and even allowed Jericho to lock in the Walls of Jericho. Whether you love him or hate him, that takes guts and unfounded passion to work through such an injury.
Lesnar Botches The Shooing Star.
It could have been one for the highlight reel. Brock Lesnar decided to go back to his OVW days (where he regularly performed the move in matches) and perform the Shooting Star Press in the main event of Wrestlemania. Sadly it didn’t end up well and he suffered with severe concussion afterwards.
The Danbury Fall
At the ECW Living Dangerously 2000 PPV, New Jack was looking to launch himself and opponent Vic Grimes through some tables that had been set up. But they missed, and in the process New Jack suffered from brain damage and blindness in his right eye as Grimes landed on him.
Foley Loses Some Of His Ear.
This is well-documented, and Foley frequently reminds us of it. You can see it happen at the 12;05 mark.
Joey Mercury’s Face.
Ugh .. I knew it was coming. I saw it live as it happened, and immediately knew it was not a gimmick or anything of the sort .. it was real, and the blood would not stop gushing. Never gets any easier to watch.
Undertaker vs. Mankind – Hell In A Cell
Consider this the main event of the series. The most dangerous match in WWE history remains lodged in the memory of everyone who witnessed it. You can see the match in its entirety below, and it’s decent quality! Mankind picked up the following injuries: Concussion, dislocated left shoulder, bruised ribs, internal bleeding, numerous puncture wounds, and dislocated his jaw, which was put in place during the match. And various reports state that Mick lost between one and a half to three teeth.
And that’s all from me. I hope you’ve enjoyed the series despite the serious message and cringing video footage behind it. I shall see you all next time with something new and fresh. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your comments.
