My question for you today is “What do you think Ava’s special announcement is going to be?”

As far as my answer…
I see all these different responses online that are fun ideas, and I don’t think that any of the wild concepts are true. In fact, I’d wager there’s a very simple announcement that isn’t all that special, but is being treated as such just to dangle a carrot for some potential viewers to tune in for the mystery.
Before revealing what I think it’ll be, let me address some of the things I’ve seen people speculate about.
This isn’t going to be an NXT Hardcore Championship. I know that with this being in ECW territory, the instinct is to go with something based around that, and the hardcore title will forever have its fans. But let’s be realistic. Does NXT need any new belts added to the lineup at all? And even if it did, why would it be this gimmick title?
I’ve seen some people toss out the idea that this will be Hikuleo’s debut and she will announce him as Talla Tonga, bringing him on board as part of a Bloodline related thing. First off, why would that happen now of all times? Second, Ava has been nothing but a babyface GM, so that’s a strange move for her to make. Third, she’s had nothing to do with the Bloodline, so where’s the connection?
It won’t be the return of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships, the return of NXT UK, or some ECW related thing, I’d bet.
I’m imagining this is one of three things, and in order of least to most likely:
3) The announcement of an NXT vs TNA crossover pay-per-view to take place in December. I wouldn’t 100% rule this out, but I do think that if this were going to be a thing, we’d have seen more TNA people doing angles at the moment. They’d have been building up to this by having an invasion or something.
2) The announcement of the return of the NXT Breakout Tournament. Maybe both the men’s and women’s brackets are revealed, even, and the tournaments could run side-by-side. We’re already overdue for the women’s and the men’s concluded in January earlier this year, so this would be a good time to start that up.
1) I assume this will be just an announcement of NXT Deadline happening in December, and that the Iron Survivor Challenge matches will be returning, along with some information on who will be competing in the qualifying matches to set that up. That way, they can kill some more time over the course of November and part of December having those matches and they don’t need to overwork themselves during the holiday season.
Is that a bit of a dud? I kind of think so. But these days, when a pro wrestling company says they have a special announcement, I just assume it isn’t going to be the biggest deal in the world. The boy cried wolf too many times. Maybe I’m wrong, though; we’ll see tomorrow night.
