Who Should Be Bron Breakker’s Next Challenger For The IC Title? | Question Of The Day

Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

There will be a Fatal 4-Way match on tonight’s WWE Raw to determine who will face Bron Breakker next for the Intercontinental Championship. As it stands (as the card is always subject to change), this match will feature Jey Uso, Ilja Dragunov, Pete Dunne, and Braun Strowman.

My question for you today is “Who do you think should win this match and be the next challenger for the IC title?”

Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.

As far as my answer…

I’m of a lot of opinions here, but I’ll bury the lead and say that not only is Jey Uso my prediction, but he’s who I’d pick out of this bunch—even though I would not have booked him in this position in the first place.

I don’t think right now, for what I’m assuming will be a Bad Blood match, Uso is the right challenger for Breakker. Uso is going to lose that, and it’s too early for Breakker to even be in any real jeopardy. I want Uso to win a singles title at some point, and now wouldn’t be the right time for it, so it’s effectively killing off one of my more favorite options of who can beat him for the belt and leaving some less favorable ones for the future. That’s a shame, but it’s the biggest match they can do at this point, especially with the other three challengers in mind.

I can’t see any argument for Pete Dunne. He’s feuding with too many other people, including Trick Williams in NXT. Giving him this in a heel versus heel match setup just doesn’t make sense. And it’s a shame Ilja Dragunov’s already been bested enough by Breakker to render his challenge a moot point, as they could’ve been built up for a much stronger match down the line if things had went differently. Now, he’s a step backward for Breakker, and nobody would really think there’s much of a chance the title would change hands.

I could make the case for Braun Strowman, though. He’s a former world champion and one of the biggest guys on the roster, so if Breakker were to defeat him, it would look great on his resume. Plus, I could imagine this playing into the push for Bronson Reed, with Reed interfering and costing Strowman the match. But even though I’d be very tempted to go in this direction, I can’t deny that Jey Uso is the more important and popular pick, so since WWE booked him to be in this match and there’s less of a chance someone costs him this opportunity while there’s every bit of a chance Reed screws over Strowman here in the No. 1 contender’s Fatal 4-Way, that’s pretty much the direction this has to go.

If anyone’s curious who I would be gunning for to be the one to dethrone Breakker eventually, by the way, since Jey Uso would be out of the picture by then, my pick would be Sheamus. I want him to scratch that accolade off his bucket list, and I don’t think Breakker losing to The Celtic Warrior will make him look bad at all. But that shouldn’t happen until either WrestleMania 41 or even after that.
