Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
AEW Worlds End 2024 takes place tonight (be sure to check out live coverage here) so we have a little bit of time to get in our last round of predictions. As simple as it can be, my question for you today is “Who do you think will win each match from the AEW Worlds End 2024 card?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
As far as my answers…
Continental Classic: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Ricochet, Kyle Fletcher vs. Will Ospreay, and the winners of those two matches against each other for the finale
I’ve been saying this since the bracket was revealed, and I’ve been right so far, so I’m going to stick to my original prediction all the way through.
Okada beats Ricochet. Ospreay beats Fletcher. Okada then beats Ospreay due to interference from either Fletcher or/and Ricochet. The champion retains, Ricochet’s loss fuels his heel turn even more, and Ospreay looks like he could’ve won the title if he hadn’t gotten screwed out of it, while also beating Fletcher to even that score, yet Fletcher had the overall best record out of anyone, so he doesn’t look weak.
Singles Match for the Dynamite Diamond Ring: MJF vs. Adam Cole
There’s a big part of me that thinks MJF is just going to retain this because the ring is his whole thing, but there’s an even bigger part of me that says he’s had that for so many years and it won’t do this feud any good for him to beat Cole. Cole, in turn, can beat him for the ring and it will mean something, even if it’s not the same as beating him for the AEW World Championship, but he’ll have at least dethroned Maxwell Jacob Friedman out of a thing that he’s dominated since it was created.
I’m going with Cole on this one, unless he’s screwed out of it by Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, or The Undisputed Kingdom’s Matt Taven and Mike Bennett end up just joining MJF. That’s also a strong possibility, but I have no money riding on this, so I’ll go Cole winning.
Singles Match for the AEW International Championship: Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
Despite the challenge he’s going to put up, I don’t think we’re looking at Hobbs winning the title here. It’s too soon, in my mind at least, for Takeshita to drop the belt. Maybe he’ll win clean, or maybe Don Callis will get involved or something, but I think Takeshita needs to retain and Hobbs, as much as I’d like to see him keep up a push and continue to succeed, will just have to come up short for this.
Tijuana Street Fight for the AEW Women’s World Championship: Mariah May (c) vs. Thunder Rosa
Obviously, Mariah May isn’t dropping the title until she’s at least fought Toni Storm one more time. I’m assuming that will happen at Grand Slam, and this match is just a means to kill time. Thunder Rosa loses. The end.
Singles Match for the AEW TBS Championship: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Kris Statlander
For a while, I assumed Mercedes Mone wouldn’t drop her title until she would fight Kamille. Now that that storyline has been derailed as much as it’s been, I’m starting to think the big switchover will be Kamille costing Mercedes her title, but not being the one to beat her. This actually has me thinking Statlander has a good chance of winning this. Frankly, if she doesn’t win the title, I’m going to be annoyed, as that will just mean Tony Khan said to himself that he didn’t want to think of something else to do other than to watch a rematch of what these two did before, and that that was good enough without bringing any new story beats to the mix, and I’m not the type of fan who just wants to see matches for the sake of matches, let alone rematches for the sake of “do it again.”
Four-Way Match for the AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Orange Cassidy vs. “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Jay White
I don’t think there’s a chance Moxley loses this title to anyone but Darby Allin. Until then, every single competitor opposite the ring will have to come up short. In this case, the story’s already been told that these three challengers can’t get along. Mox has pinned Cassidy, so I don’t think he’ll be the one to take the pin. I’ll go with Page does something stupid or irrational and it somehow leads to White being pinned, instead. Moxley retains.
