Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!
TNA Bound for Glory 2024 takes place tonight at the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, Michigan. Before the event starts, let’s toss out our predictions for the matches and see if we can guess who will win.
My question for you today is a very simple “Who do you think will win at TNA Bound for Glory?”
Remember to answer with your response in the comments below.
Whenever it comes to an event like this, I want to be up front and honest about how I do not actually watch TNA Wrestling content on the regular. Without knowing how Impact has been playing out, I am in no way the best person to adjust your bets based on. This is more of an instance of setting up a question for all of you, and I’m just going along for the ride. Take my opinions with a grain of salt and a heavy dose of “this guy doesn’t know the ins and outs of these stories.”
[Countdown to Bound for Glory] Xia Brookside & Brinley Reece vs. Ash by Elegance & Heather by Elegance
Pre-show matches across multiple companies don’t always follow the trend of going with the babyfaces for every single match, but I do think that’s the simplest way to go about this. When an NXT Superstar is factored into it as well, I’ll go with Reece and Brookside winning this.
[Countdown to Bound for Glory] 20-person Intergender Call Your Shot Gauntlet
Since most of the talent involved in this match has yet to be announced, I find it even more difficult to predict. AJ Francis has an edge, but I don’t think he’s winning it. Is it a cop out to say the winner will be someone who isn’t announced? I’m going out on a limb here with a pretty out there prediction and I’ll say that Dijak will be in this and win as a big surprise.
Monster’s Ball Match for the TNA Digital Media Championship and Canadian International Heavyweight Wrestling Championship: PCO (c) vs. Matt Cardona
Hooooo boy, this is definitely something that I can’t fully predict without knowing how this storyline has moved on since the last event and the Steph De Lander element of it.
Since Cardona is going into this as a chicken shit heel, and the Canadian title is on the line, I would lean more toward PCO retaining. That in and of itself makes me think TNA will probably go in the opposite direction, just for the hell of it, and that Cardona will employ help from someone else to get the victory.
Mike Santana vs. Moose
When in doubt, go with Moose. He wins more than he loses and unless the idea is to set up Santana as the next challenger for the world title—which could very well be a thing, for all I know—then he could just lose and follow the trend. Any time I bet against Moose, I end up being wrong.
Three-Way Full Metal Mayhem Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship: The System (Brian Myers and Eddie Edwards) (c) (with Alisha Edwards) vs. The Hardys (Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy) vs. ABC (Ace Austin and Chris Bey)
Considering this is Bound for Glory and there may not be many other opportunities for this, I’m going with The Hardy Boyz leaving this event holding the tag titles. It will end up getting one of the biggest pops of the show, and they don’t have to hold the belts for a particularly long time.
Tag Team Match for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship: Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna) (c) vs. Rosemary and Wendy Choo
In this match, though, I expect the tag titles to stay where they are. As interesting as it would be to see an NXT Superstar holding gold in TNA during this talent exchange, I don’t think Wendy Choo is going to be that person. This is in part due to the random angle they did on NXT this week with Choo locking Tatum Paxley in a trunk, for whatever reason. I suspect Paxley will pop out of that and cost them the match, leading to Spitfire retaining.
Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship: Mike Bailey (c) vs. El Hijo del Vikingo
If TNA is making a bid for Vikingo to join the roster, giving him a championship like this is a great way to sweeten the deal. I’d love to see him join the WWE roster and go through the NXT system, or to sign with All Elite Wrestling to be able to see his matches more often, but it wouldn’t shock me if he were to sign a short-term deal with TNA to help move into that kind of a transition to one of the other companies at another time.
This one is tough, but I’m going to say Vikingo wins the title.
Josh Alexander vs. Steve Maclin
Flip a coin. Alexander wants to explore free agency when his contract is up in February. Does that mean they’ll start to devalue him and focus on using him as a stepping stone to put others higher on the pedestal, knowing he’ll be out of the company in a few months? Or is it still too early and they’ll try to keep him looking strong enough just in case he decides to re-sign?
I’m more inclined to believe it’s a smarter play for Maclin to win this and to start weening out of Alexander. If he’s got an exit in mind, I don’t know if there’s anything TNA can do that can convince him staying will be the best thing for his career, considering there will likely be interest from both AEW and WWE, and I’d imagine both will pay him just as much, if not more, than what he’s getting in TNA, while offering him much more exposure.
Singles Match for the TNA Knockouts World Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs. Masha Slamovich
Speaking of someone leaving TNA for WWE, we know that that’s flat out going to happen with Jordynne Grace. She’ll be gone and in WWE in time for the Royal Rumble, I’d imagine. They’re running out of time to take the title off her, which continues to make me bet against her in a lot of these matches. However, I’m always wrong, and since this is still just October, they do still have two to three months left to book someone else to be the next champion.
I’m going with Grace retaining. I still don’t have much of a clue who they WILL decide to be the next in line, but I don’t think it will be Slamovich.
Singles Match for the TNA World Championship (with special guest ref Frankie Kazarian): Nic Nemeth (c) vs. Joe Hendry
Rounding out the discussion of moving out of TNA into WWE, Joe Hendry teased a Royal Rumble appearance of sorts (if we’re going to look into that Twitter post and read between the lines). However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’ll be out of TNA if/when he does that. After all, Grace was in the Royal Rumble and she was Knockouts champion. The plan could very well be to put the title on Hendry, try to get him to stick around, allow him to work the Royal Rumble as their top champion to get some more exposure, and go that route.
If I’m remembering correctly, Hendry’s contract doesn’t run out until the end of 2025, rather than the beginning. That’s even more of a reason to lean in that direction of putting the title on him and trying to capitalize while he’s a hot ticket item.
Frankie Kazarian being the special guest referee could screw him out of it, but since I’m not placing any monetary value on my bets, I’ll go with Hendry winning the title here.
