What’s up, folks? This Sunday is, as WWE tends to put it, the first-ever all women’s PPV, known as WWE Evolution. Before I sit down and watch the event this Sunday, I have some predictions to share. I will note, though – I’m going to predict the outcomes for all the matches, barring the Mae Young Classic finals and the NXT UK Women’s Championship match as I don’t want to spoil anything for the individuals who haven’t quite watched those events yet.
Let’s begin.
WWE RAW Women’s Championship
Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella
The Bella Twins returned to WWE television around SummerSlam and have been involved in the WWE product ever since.
Initially when they came back, Brie Bella almost killed herself one week in the ring and punted Liv Morgan in the head another week, which unfortunately resulted in a concussion. They continued to help Ronda Rousey fend off the Riott Squad in countless six woman tag team matches on Raw, until one night they decided to diminish that friendship by attacking her. After that assault, it was announced that Nikki Bella would face Ronda Rousey at WWE Evolution for the Raw Women’s Championship. Prior to their match this Sunday, they had a few strong words for each other on the past couple episodes of Raw.

Who knows how long this run of Nikki and Brie’s will be. Either way, I can’t imagine WWE handing the title over to Nikki at the expense of Ronda Rousey. Not a chance. I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I say Brie gets involved, but to no avail. Ronda picks up the win.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte
This rivalry began how numerous feuds have began in the past – one friend turns on the other and it’s war from there onward. Despite folks preferring not to boo Becky Lynch, she has been doing a phenomenal job with the fresh role she’s been in. Perhaps the heel and babyface roles in this feud should be adjusted, but it is what it is.
This rivalry has two women at the top of their game going for the grandest prize in their division, with years of backstory supporting it all.
Even after the rightful babyface Becky Lynch finally recaptured the SmackDown Women’s title, there was enough turmoil to justify an extended story. This program has been well booked for the most part in my eyes, but I do think it’s time to move on to something different after Evolution for these two. Keep the title on Becky for a while, have her feud with the winner of the battle royal. They can always revisit the Charlotte-Becky saga another time.
Prediction: Becky Lynch
NXT Women’s Championship
Kairi Sane (c) vs. Shayna Baszler
In addition to the main roster’s matches, there’s also going to be an NXT Women’s Championship match pitting Champion Kairi Sane against Shayna Baszler. The friction between Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane dates all the way to the finals of last year’s Mae Young Classic, where the latter emerged victorious.
Baszler never got over the fact that she lost, so she was out for revenge, and would eventually win the NXT Women’s Championship. However at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, Sane captured the title, defeating The Queen of Spades. Now Baszler has revenge on her mind once again, so it looks like Sane will have her work cut out for her this Sunday.
Baszler has already defeated just about every woman on the NXT roster, so I don’t see a valid point in giving her the title again. With that said, Kairi Sane should win this match and continue to elevate the talent NXT has in the division, while the Queen of Spades heads to the main roster.
Prediction: Kairi Sane
Battle Royal (Winner receives future Women’s Championship match)
I enjoy a good old battle royal, except when there is no logical rhyme or reason why it’s happening, or when the outcome doesn’t advance any rivalry or have any sort of title shot on the line. This battle royal has the latter – a future shot at the title on your respective brand. Sure, competitors like Asuka and Ember Moon deserve something more essential and paramount, but hey – it is what it is. Those two mentioned are definitely among the favourites to win, but I’m going to go a different route, I’m going with Zelina Vega. I enjoy her character, I like how she carries herself. She also looked strong on SmackDown this week, so perhaps that’s where they’re going with this. Regardless, I see a great future ahead of her, and this would be a fitting start.
Prediction: Zelina Vega
Trish Stratus & Lita vs. Alexa Bliss & Mickie James
You know, sometimes it’s good to see former stars return to WWE television and all, but I want to be invested in whatever the hell their doing upon their return. And when it comes to this program, I am sadly not. It’s just messy, feels rushed…this whole PPV sort of feels that way, but this tag match has to be the absolute worst. I just simply don’t care. Why should I? They’ve given us no reason to care for this tag match. I mean, is Alexa even going to compete? How many bumps are Lita and Trish going to take? Do they plan on continuing this rivalry after the PPV? Perhaps I’m thinking too much.
Furthermore, there are indeed rumblings that Lita and Trish are sticking around beyond Evolution, so I’m curious what they’ll do with those two down the line. Will they compete for the rumoured Women’s Tag Team Championship? Will they revisit their rivalry from back in the day and fight each other? It’s hard to tell. We’ll see.
Concerning this match, I actually predict that Trish and Lita will be successful. Especially after hearing that they are staying for a bit. The hall of famers can have a brief moment of glory.
Prediction: Trish & Lita
Bayley, Sasha Banks & Natalya vs. The Riott Squad
This match isn’t really anything you’re going to talk about on the ride home, nothing significant will come out of it. It’s just a cheap way of getting everyone on the roster, a lot like the battle royal – but at least that has championship implications, while this one will only ensure bragging rights.
Anyhow, everyone was seemingly hoping for a Bayley/Sasha feud to culminate on this night, and rightfully so, but that’s clearly not the direction WWE is taking at this very moment. Maybe they’re just holding out until WrestleMania, I don’t know, or perhaps they’ll schedule that match for a B-level PPV, who really knows with this company.
As far as this particular match goes though, I say give it to the Riott Squad, give those ladies some momentum.
Prediction: Riott Squad
Well, I believe that’s it. Enjoy the show if you’re watching it this Sunday.
