Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day—with this one focusing on last night’s WWE NXT Heatwave 2024 premium live event.
Out of everything that went down, your question is simple: “What was the biggest highlight and the biggest low point of NXT Heatwave 2024?”

As far as my response goes…
Biggest Low Point
Next to nothing happened on this event!! ONE thing happened, with the NXT Championship changing hands. Everything else was just a match for no reason other than to watch two or more people wrestle.
Now, while you might just be looking for that and that alone, I’m someone who wants these storylines to develop and move further. I don’t watch action movies for just the explosions and punches, and the whole “pro wrestling matches and no real other substance” approach is why I can’t get into many other companies.
None of the matches were bad. Roxanne Perez and Lola Vice had its moments that I’m sure everyone was disappointed with. But just because the matches were fine doesn’t mean that this was a particularly interesting event. None of those matches were GREAT. Not a single one is memorable enough, in my mind, to even remember details about by the time I’m writing this up.
I questioned having this card be so weird with the heel/heel and face/face dynamics and the lack of a build for some of the matches, but I was working under the assumption WWE just thought these would be the best possible matches. If that’s the case, then that’s very disappointing, as I wouldn’t tell anyone to see ANY of these matches if they had skipped them.
I’m hoping NXT on Tuesday changes the dynamics enough and we get some actual progress with these storylines. As it stands, I feel like most things are right where they were 2 weeks ago.
Biggest Highlight
I struggle to really think of anything worth highlighting. While it sounds like I hated the event, that isn’t true; I just feel like there’s nothing to talk about here. The one and only thing that really happened was Trick Williams dropping the NXT Championship, but I can’t quite say that’s my biggest positive of the night as I don’t fully agree with the idea of taking the title off him.
It isn’t much, but I’ll have to go with the Joe Hendry tease at the very end of the show.
At the very least, that means there’s more of a chance TNA wrestlers will be showing back up again in NXT. I didn’t like the sidelining with that story that has happened in the past few weeks, where TNA just didn’t have a presence. Hendry is one of the most interesting people I want to see more of, too, so this should be an indicator that he may play a bigger role going forward than that quick battle royal appearance.
