Welcome to another edition of WWE Heat Index, wherein we discuss the interest level for the various feuds heading into the pay-per-view events. This time around, we’re focusing on Super ShowDown 2020 coming this Thursday afternoon.
The way this works is a gauge range of Scorching, Hot, Lukewarm, Temperate, Chilly, Cold and Freezing. The hotter, the better, as that indicates your level of excitement, anticipation and faith that it will be good.

Without further ado, let’s get started!
Universal Championship Match: Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Goldberg = Cold
Oooooooh boy…this is not going to be good at all. It can’t possibly be. There’s no way. Goldberg was never a workhorse to begin with even when he was in his prime. For that matter, I’ve never thought Bray Wyatt was all that to be cracked up about, either, so it’s not like he’d be able to carry Goldberg.
This reeks of a disaster. If Goldberg loses, it hurts his mystique. If Wyatt loses, WWE just proved again how it only cares about older stars and can’t make new ones. If there’s a non-finish of sorts to protect both of them, neither come out looking good and all the fans will just roll their eyes.
This will be a bad match that has a problematic finish and the whole segment will have been a mistake.
Prediction: I honestly have no idea who wins.
WWE Championship Match: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Ricochet = Lukewarm
What stinks about this is that there is not even 0.000001% of a chance that Ricochet wins, which makes this hard to get fully invested in. But what’s awesome about this is that a guy like Ricochet is getting an opportunity to be showcased as a major player.
If WWE plays its cards right, this will be more than just a complete squash. Obviously, Brock Lesnar has to retain and must look strong. But they can do that without totally killing Ricochet, too.
All it will take is for him to get in some offense like how Finn Balor, AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan put up a fight against The Beast Incarnate. Then, even in a loss, Ricochet will look better in the long run and this will be a more fun segment.
I don’t necessarily have faith in them pulling it off, which is why this isn’t Scorching or something, but there’s still a chance this could work.
Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins.
Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match = Lukewarm
So…what’s the Tuwaiq Trophy all about? Huh? Great job explaining this and giving it a purpose, WWE.
These things are strange. It seems like each of these Saudi Arabia shows require some sort of prize to be won in an oddball gimmick match, but none of them amount to much of anything and the matches get little to no build.
With this group of people, I’m definitely interested to see how they plan on booking R-Truth and Rey Mysterio (originally Rusev) to be the only two babyfaces to act as glue for the gauntlet. My guess is Rey Mysterio is the real anchor who beats a bunch of people and then loses to AJ Styles so The Phenomenal One can have more momentum heading into his WrestleMania match against The Undertaker, if that’s true.
Prediction: AJ Styles wins.
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Naomi = Temperate
I’m super happy there’s another women’s match happening on this card. It’s taken too long to get to this point, but at least they’re continue to step forward more and more.
But, if I’m honest, I don’t care about this match itself. I haven’t been digging the storyline, nor Bayley’s heel turn. I don’t think the match will be all that special (but, of course, I hope I’m wrong about that) and so, I’m not hyped.
Prediction: Bayley wins.
Steel Cage Match: King Corbin vs. Roman Reigns = Chilly
I like both Roman Reigns and King Corbin more than most people, but good lord, this feud should have ended in December at TLC. When WWE drags stuff out for months on end just because they don’t want to bother to write a new storyline, it just reeks of laziness.
No, I’m not interested in this steel cage match. All that means is they’ll have the same match but with more limitations and it will be harder to see.
Prediction: Roman Reigns wins.
Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Seth Rollins and Murphy (c) vs. The Street Profits = Lukewarm
I dig The Street Profits, I dig Rollins and Murphy (although I want that stable to actually get a name) and I think I’m going to enjoy this match.
It does feel a bit out of left field, though, doesn’t it? The Street Profits weren’t all that involved and with one rescue segment, they’re fighting for the tag titles? That’s a bit easy.
But hey, maybe the belts change hands. That could be fun and interesting. Or, maybe it’s just a rock solid match and the champions retain. I’d be okay with that, too.
Prediction: Rollins and Murphy win.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The New Day (c) vs. John Morrison and The Miz = Hot
I feel like it’s inevitable The Miz and John Morrison will win these titles. The only question is when they’ll take them, not if.
Sometimes, it feels like WWE avoids the Saudi shows having title changes and would rather that happen on television or, for instance, a show like Elimination Chamber coming up just a few days after this. That wouldn’t be too surprising.
But why not just pull the trigger while it’s on a bigger stage? That way, it doesn’t require backtracking and doing the same match again and telling fans to just be okay with the repeats.
Prediction: John Morrison and The Miz win.
