AEW’s Adam Copeland hopes that this week’s Dynamite in Asheville will go a long way to benefit those affected by Hurricane Helene.

Months after the hurricane hit, the effects are still being felt across Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas with many places still lacking drinking water.

Speaking to “The Takedown” for Sports Illustrated, Copeland spoke about how this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite will provide an escape for those affected. He said,

“Historically, Asheville’s not necessarily a wrestling town. For a while NWA ran here weekly, back in the eighties, but at some point it just became a non-wrestling town. I don’t know if that’s changed, but it felt like coming here was the right thing to do to try and help this community.

“Entertainment is one of the things that gets people through. A TV show, a game, pro wrestling event, a concert, whatever it is, take your pick. That’s what it’s for. It’s really important for people. I think the pandemic really highlighted that for folks.”

Copeland’s family was one of the many in Asheville affected by the hurricane, and he shared that his family only recently regained clean tap water.

This week’s Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen show will see Copeland team with FTR to face the Death Riders’ Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli.

Copeland returned to AEW TV at Worlds End 2024. He had been out of action since May after suffering a fractured tibia at Double or Nothing.
