Fans began discussing the upcoming head-to-head battle between WWE and AEW when the Peacock schedule for WWE content listed two forthcoming specials.
According to the schedule, Saturday Night’s Main Event XXIX and XL will air on May 24 and July 12, respectively.
What’s interesting is that July 12 aligns with AEW All In: Texas 2025, while May 24 falls on Memorial Day weekend, which has traditionally been the timeframe for AEW Double Or Nothing since 2019.
Moreover, WWE Vengeance Day 2025 is scheduled for February 15, coinciding with AEW Grand Slam: Australia.
AEW traditionally schedules pay-per-view events on Sundays outside of NFL season, while it holds them on Saturday evenings during the season.
However, AEW has not officially announced a date for Double Or Nothing 2025.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that AEW Double Or Nothing 2025 will not compete with Saturday Night’s Main Event XXIX.
The report states, “We were able to confirm that AEW was not planning a PPV that day, and was likely planning one the next day. However, historically, Double or Nothing most years was on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.”
Moreover, it was noted that AEW “has been trying to keep dates under wraps more after last year’s listing of all dates months ahead led to WWE running a house show on 12/28 in Orlando, since AEW had announced that date eight months in advance.”
AEW held Worlds End 2024 on December 28, going head-to-head with a WWE live event.
