Could Dustin Rhodes follow in the footsteps of his father and brother by becoming a World Champion? One AEW producer certainly hopes so.
Rhodes has been with AEW since the very start and faced his brother Cody at Double or Nothing 2019 in an acclaimed and bloody encounter.
On a recent edition of the “UnSKripted” podcast, AEW producer Ray Lloyd, aka Glacier, was asked about a potential AEW World Title push for Rhodes. He said,
“The short answer is I certainly hope so. Yes, I do believe that. It’s in his blood. It’s in his blood to be a competitor. It’s part of being, you know, that Rhodes tradition. But that being said, I think he is in a really good place as far as his position as a wrestler right now in AEW because, just from what I see, he really does embrace that role of being a mentor and a locker-room veteran.
“There’s a lot of talent that look up to him and go to him for advice, which is really good to see. I definitely think that he is ready to pull the trigger. If they feel like it’s a thing to put him in that position for a run, I think he is 100% ready for it.”
Rhodes is already a ROH World Tag Team Champion with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the ROH Six Man Tag Team Champions with The Von Erichs.
At 55, the clock is ticking for Rhodes’ potential World Championship push. Rhodes has also launched his own wrestling promotion.
