A new TV contract between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery is close to completion, as the current deal expires by the end of the year.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared an update on AEW’s new media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
Meltzer initially reported that an announcement for the new broadcast deal was almost ready. He later stated that the deal had been finalized.
The upcoming announcement, expected to coincide with AEW Dynamite’s fifth anniversary, will only disclose a media rights deal and the stations involved without revealing all the details of the new agreement. Warner Bros. Discovery is also preparing promotional material for the announcement.
Meltzer said, “The deal is done, and the [media] releases are in the process of being worked on. An announcement is forthcoming. An announcement is already done, it’s just a question of when it will be released, and it could be Wednesday. It could be a little bit later, but it’s done, okay?”
The specific details of the deal, its value, and the networks involved under the Warner Bros. Discovery banner have yet to be disclosed.
AEW Dynamite will celebrate its fifth anniversary tomorrow at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
