Anthony Bowens Hypes Full Gear 2024, Mina Shirakawa Shares Her Plans

During a recent appearance on the “ROAR Around the Ring” podcast, Anthony Bowens discussed The Acclaimed’s upcoming title match at AEW Full Gear 2024, which he refers to as the team’s “redemption day.”

The Acclaimed will compete against The Kings of the Black Throne, The Outrunners, and the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Private Party.

Bowens said, “It’s exciting. I mean, I haven’t had that kind of match in New Jersey since 2022 when we wrestled Keith Lee and Swerve. The last time we were in New Jersey, it was kind of dramatic because Billy thought about retiring and took off his boots and he left them in the ring. So it’s a bit of a redemption day getting back to Full Gear in New Jersey, and also we’ve got the tag team titles on the line. Max and I have been trying to win the titles for a second time, to continue making The Acclaimed one of the best tag teams to ever do. So it’s a big special night. I got friends, I got family that’s going to be there. So I’m excited.”

During a recent interview with Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Mina Shirakawa discussed her plans regarding how long she intends to remain in America and wrestle for AEW alongside Mariah May.

May and Shirakawa will host a “champagne celebration” at Full Gear 2024 on Saturday night.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On British vs. Japanese vs. American wrestling: “I think that British wrestling is quite similar to Japanese wrestling, and the fans were happy when we had a technical wrestling match. One of my signature moves is the figure four, and the fans erupted in cheers when I tapped the champion out with it to win the title. It’s really gratifying to know that my decision to become a professional wrestler wasn’t a mistake. In comparison, I think American-style wrestling is more dynamic. I don’t really change my style of wrestling when it comes to big matches, but I’ll change the types of moves that I use.”

On how long she plans to stay in the US: “I’ve been making Mariah (May) wait a lot, and I plan to stay in the United States until her feelings of loneliness are gone. I’m here to celebrate her championship win and wrestle a lot of matches as [our team] Rose Gold.”

On if their friendship changed since May turned on Toni Storm: “Our friendship hasn’t changed in the slightest. We’re still best friends forever. However, I am a little concerned that she’s acting a bit weird recently … but I think with me by her side, she’ll calm down again soon enough.”
