As we’ve been reporting here on eWn, Malakai Black is believed to be leaving AEW and will become a free agent in February or March.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the reaction backstage regarding Black’s impending exit has been positive.
Meltzer stated that Black will no longer appear on television for AEW. Everyone backstage shared “the same story” and their response was “good.”
Sources indicated that while Black put in a lot of effort, he always desired to return to WWE, and it was evident that he wanted to go back.
AEW determined that it wasn’t worthwhile to feature Black on TV, especially if he wasn’t comfortable with the idea of losing.
It is believed that WWE will be interested in re-signing Black once he becomes a free agent.
