Mercedes Mone successfully defended her AEW TBS Championship and captured Stephanie Vaquer’s NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship in their Winner Takes All match at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024.

According to a report from Pwinsider, the Mone vs. Vaquer match at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024 received significant internal praise for the CMLL talent’s outstanding ability to engage the live crowd in New York City.

Despite Vaquer’s late arrival on the day of the event, Mone successfully aimed to elevate her opponent’s standing in the company.

The report states, ”There was a lot of praise internally for the Mercedes Mone vs. Stephanie Vaquer bout within AEW, specifically for Vaquer getting over so strongly with the live crowd in NYC for her work.  We are told that Mone went into the bout with the express goal of “making” Vaquer and that even with Vaquer getting into town late as she didn’t arrive until the afternoon of the PPV (most were in the night before), the feeling was they hit the goal.”

During the post-show media scrum for AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024, Mone commented on Britt Baker’s return at the event and hinted at a potential confrontation on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
