As seen at Sunday’s AEW All In 2024 pay-per-view event, Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland to capture the AEW World Championship in the main event of the show.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Danielson has been “very against” winning the AEW title for a long time now. It is said that Danielson “often and actively” pushed back on the notion of winning a championship in AEW but Tony Khan was adamant that he become AEW World Champion before he calls it a career. In the end, Danielson gave in to his good friend and boss.
Additionally, it was added that Khan specifically wanted the closing moment of AEW All In 2024, which saw Danielson and his family celebrating in the ring.
Finally, it was added that the decision for the main event of All In 2024 was made “at least by April.” There were never any plans in place for a Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay main event. Due to his young age, Ospreay will have many more chances to main event Wembley Stadium.
