Bryan Danielson was so sure Cody Rhodes would win at WWE WrestleMania 39, that he congratulated Rhodes before his loss last year.
WrestleMania 39 saw Rhodes lose to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a surprising result as many had predicted Cody would finish his ‘story’ at the event.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Danielson recalled being one of the many people surprised by the result in Los Angeles, CA. He said,
“I texted Cody last year, just saying I was so proud of him and congratulations. Then the finish happened, and I was so mad.”
Rhodes will have a second chance to dethrone Reigns when the two meet for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 40 (Night Two).
The day prior, the stipulation for their title match will be decided in a tag-team match pitting Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins against Roman Reigns & The Rock.
