AEW has been experiencing decreased viewership and live attendance, leading to speculations about the company’s future performance. This has caused fans to draw parallels to the historical trajectory of WCW.

In her recent newsletter, Mercedes Mone shared her thoughts on the July 17th episode of AEW Dynamite, which marked the 250th edition of the show. She wrote,

“I was looking forward to Dynamite 250. This is a really big milestone for AEW as we are so close to surpassing WCW records in terms of being around when a lot of people said that we weren’t going to survive.”

On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, former WCW President Eric Bischoff criticized Mone’s comments, stating that fans who are excited about Dynamite potentially outliving Nitro are akin to kids just learning to communicate.

Bischoff said, “Who gives a s**t, right? A lot of AEW fans are like, ‘I can’t believe ‘Dynamite’ is gonna be around longer than ‘Nitro.’ It’s like a little kid, when you’re around a four-year-old or a five-year-old, and they’re just beginning to learn how to really communicate. … As earnest as they are and as passionate as they are, they’re just babbling.”

For what it’s worth, the 250th episode of AEW Dynamite achieved the highest viewership in three months and the best 18-49 rating in six weeks, with 795,000 viewers, a 0.27 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and a 0.17 rating in the 18-34 demographic.
