On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff discussed the matchup involving The Scissor Ace vs. The Elite at AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024.

Bischoff expressed that if the match had occurred during the WCW Saturday Night tapings in 1992, he would have considered reshooting it or opted not to air it due to its perceived poor quality.

Bischoff emphasized his disappointment, noting that The Elite, as representatives of AEW, should have presented a higher standard of performance, which, in his view, still needs to be met.

The former WCW President further critiqued The Elite’s apparent lack of effort during the match, likening it to a substandard performance that appeared to be conducted from a distance. He said,

“It was the s**ts. If we had shot that on WCW Saturday Night back in 1992, and it was a taped show, we would have either reshot it or not aired it. That was s**t, horrible. These guys are supposed to be the best. These are representatives of the company where the best wrestle. That match sucked. They did not give a s**t. They didn’t even phone it in—they yelled it from across the parking lot. That was so bad. Am I the only one? I want to hear what everybody else thinks. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe there’s something going on there I just didn’t see. But that match was horrible.”

Moreover, Bischoff was critical of The Young Bucks’ physical condition and in-ring abilities, indicating that their performance fell below his expectations. He concluded their work was marginally better than average and expressed disappointment with their current standing in televised events.

Bischoff added,You put The Elite in an actual office job. Teach them how to work a computer, get coffee, or do some s**t in the office that actually is an office job because they suck on TV right now. I don’t know what the attraction is with these guys, but I didn’t see it tonight. They look like they haven’t been in a gym in six months. The work was sloppy. It was slightly better than average work.”

Despite Bischoff’s expressed concerns, The Elite will undoubtedly play a significant role in AEW’s programming for the foreseeable future.
