Eric Bischoff would love nothing more than to see AEW succeed, despite many feeling that the WCW alum is overly critical of the ‘Elite’ promotion.

While Bischoff has a handful of AEW appearances to his name, he hasn’t appeared in years and often criticizes AEW and its owner Tony Khan.

On a recent edition of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Bischoff explained that, in contrast to what some think, he wants AEW to do well. He said,

“I’ve watched other people make those mistakes that I just… I can’t help but be vocal about it, not because I don’t want it to succeed, it being AEW, but because I freaking do and I would like to think that people are generally intelligent enough to see that.”

Bischoff also shared his take on fans of AEW who believe he doesn’t want the promotion to succeed in the wrestling market. He said,

“To those hardcore wrestling fans or AEW fans, I should say I’m a bad guy because I’m pointing out flaws and things that they probably don’t see or don’t care about because they don’t look at things the same way I do. They don’t have the same experience that I do, so they’re reacting to me and that’s what wrestling is, it’s drama, it’s combative, it’s divisive, it’s good guys and bad guys, it’s what it is.”

AEW recently held its second All In event from Wembley Stadium. The company will host its All Out 2024 pay-per-view this weekend.
