Nicholas Jackson has revealed how he and Matthew Jackson convinced Tony Khan to consider bringing Orange Cassidy to AEW.
During a recent appearance on the “Tunnel Talk” podcast, Nicholas discussed how they introduced various talents from CHIKARA, noting that Khan was initially unsure about Cassidy.
He said, “Chuck Taylor, of course, we’ve been good buddies with him since the CHIKARA days as well. It’s funny, there is a lot of the CHIKARA guys backstage to this day. Bryce Remsberg is another one, we’ve always been friends with him too. A lot of those guys, we specifically hired because of our CHIKARA days with them. I remember that Tony [Khan] wasn’t very high on Orange Cassidy at first so we had to kind of sell him on him for a little bit. And I remember Tony saying: ‘You guys were right.’”
Cassidy made his AEW debut at Double or Nothing 2019 and has since emerged as one of the leading figures in the company, competing for the AEW World Championship at both AEW Full Gear 2024 and AEW Worlds End 2024.
Red Velvet has agreed to defend the ROH Women’s TV Championship against Leyla Hirsch, but only on her conditions.
Velvet triumphed over Hirsch at ROH Final Battle 2024 after striking her with a wrench, and this week’s episode of ROH TV on HonorClub featured Hirsch confronting Velvet regarding the incident.
Velvet argued that she was merely employing the same tactics that had been used against her, and while Hirsch admitted she had done similar things in the past, she questioned why Velvet felt the need to resort to them.
Velvet agreed to give Hirsch another title shot, stating that it would only occur on her terms.
The title match has yet to be officially announced.
