Despite reports to the contrary, Jack Perry says he never apologized for his backstage fight with CM Punk at the 2023 All In pay-per-view event. Additionally, Perry says he was denied his release from All Elite Wrestling.
A recent report surfaced stating that Perry had texted Tony Khan several times to say he was sorry for the incident.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez, Perry is flat out denying that he ever texted Tony Khan to say he was sorry and that he told Khan’s lawyers that he wouldn’t initiate first contact with the AEW President.
Perry went on to say that he didn’t hear from Khan for two months after the All In 2023 pay-per-view event. He added that Khan had set up a meeting before Full Gear in November. During that meeting, there had been some talk of bringing Perry back in December. Those plans wound up being scrapped after CM Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023.
In recent months, Perry has been working for New Japan Pro Wrestling and wanted to work Wrestle Kingdom. Due to “logistical reasons,” he was unable to appear at the show. Perry says he worked with Tony Khan and Rocky Romero to arrange his current NJPW run.
Finally, it was added that Perry asked for his AEW release last year but it was denied. So obviously, that means he’s still under contract to AEW. Perry says there are currently no plans to bring him back to AEW and he hasn’t talked to Tony Khan in several months. He also says he hasn’t cleared anything he’s done in NJPW storylines such as ripping up his AEW contract on TV and calling himself a “scapegoat.”
