AEW has had several stars sidelined by injuries, but it recently saw one of its former champions return.
Jamie Hayter returned at AEW All In London 2024 by interrupting a segment featuring Saraya and the rest of the Knight Family in the ring. Hayter had been sidelined for over a year.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion targeted Saraya’s mother after getting attacked. Hayter stood tall in the ring as Saraya escaped, concluding the segment.
Hayter then returned to in-ring action last week on AEW Dynamite, defeating Harley Cameron in a singles match.
During her hiatus, Hayter’s injury was kept under wraps, with some speculating it was a severe shoulder injury.
In a recent interview with Renee Paquette, Hayter disclosed that she had two severely herniated discs in her back. She admitted that she had been unaware of the injury until she could barely walk, stand, or even lie down.
Initially, Hayter thought it was sciatica and even questioned whether she could ever return to in-ring action.
