During a recent appearance on the “Wrestling Shoot Interviews” podcast, Jerry Lynn said that former ECW owner Paul Heyman still owes him money from the time he worked for the promotion. Heyman’s problems with paying wrestlers have been brought up in the past, although Lynn says he has no hard feelings.

Lynn also explained why he takes issue with wrestlers speaking out about backstage issues that they may have. The AEW producer was asked about Ricky Starks’ recent interview, in which he discussed being kept off AEW TV in recent months.

Furthermore, Lynn spoke about Eric Bischoff and why he was harsh about him years ago. However, Lynn doesn’t harbor any ill will toward the WWE Hall of Famer these days.

During the conversation, Lynn also reflected on his matches with Rob Van Dam and what he doesn’t like about modern-day wrestling.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On Paul Heyman still owing him money: “It’s quite a bit. But, you know, I’ll never see it. I forgot Paulie was managing him, so I saw Paulie, and I told Paulie and I said, you know, I said the same thing I said to Bischoff. I said ‘I buried you in a lot of promos,’ I said I wasn’t happy, you know, being screwed out of a lot of money. He says ‘I don’t blame you.’”

On Starks’ interview about AEW: “I can’t speak for him and why he did it, but years ago when it was just the sheets, a lot of the guys would leak info and stuff so they would get talked more favorably in their matches. Like, that’s why. And now, I think a lot of it is getting attention.”

On how speaking out about AEW puts everyone in a bad light: “Now we look like just a bunch of immature children. To me, wrestling is the best job in the world, it’s supposed to be fun. If it’s not fun we’re doing something wrong.”

On Eric Bischoff: “I wasn’t happy with how it all ended… There’s a lot of — there’s a little bit of bulls**t that went down at the end, but — and I wasn’t happy with how it all went down. I talked to Eric years and years later … and I said, ‘You know Eric,’ I said ‘I don’t know if you’ve heard or read any or something, but I buried you in interviews and stuff.’”

On his matches with RVD: “We [Rob and I] were trying to hit each other with wrestling moves. Like, I would trip him. I’d try and drop an elbow on him. He’d move. He’d do that flip leg drop. I would move. And now we’re at the stalemate. But here’s the difference too; a lot of these guys, when they do these standoffs or whatever, they’re not even at the end of it, they’ll turn to the camera or just do a pose or look at the crowd and hold their arms out…go ‘Look what I can do’ and beg for a reaction.”

On wrestlers worried about getting reactions more than winning a match: “I don’t want to cut down other people’s work. There’s so many talented guys out there that can do stuff I never can do. But you can still make it look like you’re trying to win a match.”
