Some fans may have grown tired of Chris Jericho in AEW, but Jim Ross is predicting a lengthy future for the veteran in Tony Khan’s company.

Jericho has been with AEW since the start and has often taken credit for his mainstream appeal helping the company to be taken seriously.

On a recent edition of his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross spoke about himself and Jericho being mutual supporters of one another. He said,

“He’s always been an advocate of mine, and it’s reciprocal. When he got hired by Tony Khan in AEW, I thought that was one of the smartest things that Tony could have done to help stabilize his roster, his new roster, and Chris Jericho has been a great addition since day one. He calls most of his own shots now, and why not?”

When asked by Conrad Thompson about what the future holds for Jericho, Ross predicted that there’s plenty left for him in AEW. He said,

“Even though he’s not a spring chicken, he stays in great shape. He’s a keeper. If Tony Khan is smart, and he is, Chris is gonna be a part of the company for the foreseeable future and a long time to come.

“I do think that somewhere down the road, when he and Tony Khan make the decision to say that’s enough, that he’ll get a sendoff like Sting’s, in that sense, special occasion, big-time deal. I just don’t think it’s anytime soon.”

Jericho was the first-ever AEW World Champion, having won the title in 2019, and captured the FTW Championship earlier this year.

He is currently in his second reign as Ring of Honor World Champion after dethroning Mark Briscoe in a ladder match on the October 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite.
