WrestleMania 30 may have been the pinnacle of Bryan Danielson’s WWE career, but the wrestler suffered immense amounts of pain ahead of the event.
The show saw Bryan win the opening match with Triple H and the main event against Randy Orton and Batista to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Bryan’s win came about thanks in part to the ‘YES! Movement’ as fans rallied behind him, forcing WWE to push him into the main event.
In a recent interview with TV Insider though, Jon Moxley shared just how much pain Bryan was in ahead of the April 2014 pay-per-view event. He said,
“I don’t think people understand how much he has gone through physically. I remember the run-up to the WrestleMania he headlined. I was with him pretty much every night, and he was banged up. He was getting through it to get there.
“A lot of people don’t understand the actual physical toll this could take on your body. I don’t think people knew how much he was suffering. You would never know it by looking at him. I was there and saw and understood what he went through.”
Danielson’s reign as champion would end months later as he was forced to vacate the gold due to injuries. He would be retired less than two years later.
Moxley’s WrestleMania 30 experience saw himself, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns defeat The New Age Outlaws and Kane in dominant fashion.
Danielson is currently on hiatus from AEW following his loss to Moxley at WrestleDream and expects that he’ll have surgery on his neck this year.
