Josh Barnett has expressed his desire to face Bryan Danielson before his career ends.
Although Danielson concluded his full-time wrestling career at AEW WrestleDream 2024, he has not ruled out the chance of wrestling on a part-time basis.
During a recent appearance on the “Shining Wizards” podcast, Barnett mentioned that he would like to compete against the former AEW World Champion.
Barnett said, “With Bryan Danielson, yeah, 100%. I just don’t think about throwing his name out there because I just feel like it’s impossible, but I hope that if he’s gonna retire, then I at least get a chance to meet him in the ring at least one time. I’ve known him forever, we’ve done tours together, I’ve trained him on submission wrestler at times, a great guy, another Washingtonian.”
Barnett also disclosed that he had contacted AEW wrestler Shelton Benjamin regarding a possible appearance at a Bloodsport event.
MVP, another member of The Hurt Syndicate, recently competed at Bloodsport XII.
Barnett said, “Would love to see it. I have been in communication with him. Don’t know if it’s gonna happen. But you never know. Again, another person I have a high opinion of. Plus, me and Shelton have a connection, not only through Bobby [Lashley] and MVP, but also through Minnesota wrestling because I’ve got some guys that are from the Minnesota Storm [who] wrestled for the University of Minnesota that have trained with me and gone and competed in catch wrestling over in England. I’ve brought it up to Shelton, and he’s like, ‘What? Really? You got these guys going out there? That’s cool, man’.”
