Kazuchika Okada has been confirmed to compete in the 2024 AEW Continental Classic, making him the first entrant announced for the tournament.
The announcement was a video package dedicated to highlighting his impressive performances in the previous G1 Climax, which he won four times (in 2012, 2014, 2021 and 2022).

When the tournament will begin and who the other competitors will be have yet to be announced. Okada was assumed to be in this tournament, as he is the reigning and defending AEW continental champion, but this is also confirmation that AEW would not be breaking from last year’s concept when the title was crowned. However, it does seem to imply that no other championships will be involved, unlike how last year’s Triple Crown concept was formed from Eddie Kingston putting the ROH World Championship and NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship on the line.
