On a recent edition of his “Kliq This” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash addressed the possibility of Sting taking on an authority role in AEW.
Nash expressed a differing perspective, explaining that although Nick Aldis effectively serves as the General Manager of WWE SmackDown, a similar role may not be suitable for the WCW legend. He said,
“I think Nick does a really good job on WWE because he’s — and you got to be in a suit, and yeah, Steve [Sting] and his face paint? That’s just … No. Steve’s not gonna … Why would — he can’t be the commissioner and come in shades.” He added, “Because … Put it this way, Steve isn’t going to do it.”
Following his retirement match at AEW Revolution 2024, Sting said the following on continuing to appear in AEW:
“Well, Tony has mentioned me staying on board in some form or fashion. We haven’t really worked anything out there yet, but I’m sure we’ll have some kind of conversation. And I’m saying — you know, maybe. We’ll see what happens. I have no interest in being a manager or anything like that. Or an agent, I don’t want to do any of that kind of stuff. I’m not sure what I can offer… I”m willing to have a talk.”
