During a recent appearance on the “AEW Unrestricted” podcast, Kris Statlander discussed her upcoming match against Mercedes Mone at AEW Full Gear 2024 and expressed her readiness to reclaim the TBS Championship.
Statlander said, “I’m feeling more ready than ever to reclaim my throne as the TBS Champion. As we all know, Full Gear last year, I lost the title, but never got pinned for the title. I feel like if anything, this past year has really proven that I’m more worthy of a title than ever, especially given the past couple pay-per-views I’ve been very lucky to be a part of. I think it’s about time somebody knocks Mercedes off her high horse to speak because we all know who the rightful champion should be and that’s me.”
During a recent appearance on the “Everything Is Pro Wrestling” podcast, Anthony Bowens revealed that he felt intimidated to approach Billy Gunn when he first became part of AEW because of an incident from years earlier.
At that time, Gunn was employed at the WWE Performance Center when Bowens had his tryout in 2015.
Bowens said, “I used to be scared of Billy. When I had my tryout at the Performance Center in 2015, I was doing a drill slightly incorrectly. It’s a drill where you lay on your back and get up and square off with your opponent. I went down on my back, I went up, and I saw an angry tomato red man looking at me from up above. That sight haunted me for years. I was scared to say hello to him when I first got to AEW. Now, it’s kind of funny that it went from him giving me nightmares to being my dad.”
